< Psalms 81 >

1 “To the chief musician upon Gittith; by Assaph.” Sing aloud unto God our strength: shout joyfully unto the God of Jacob.
E HOOKANI olioli oukou i ke Akua, i ko kakou ikaika: E hooho hauoli i ke Akua o Iakoba.
2 Lift up psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
E hookiekie i ke mele ana, a e ho mai hoi i ka pahu kani, A me ka lira oluolu, a me ka violaumi.
3 Blow on the new moon the cornet, at the time appointed, on the day of our feast.
E puhi oukou i ka pu i ka mahina hou, A i ka mahina poepoe hoi no ka la ahaaina.
4 For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance by the God of Jacob.
No ka mea, he olelo paa keia no ka Iseraela, O ke kanawai hoi o ke Akua o ka Iakoba.
5 As a testimony in Joseph did he ordain it, when he went out over the land of Egypt. The language of one I had not known did I hear.
Kau no oia i keia i kanawai no ka Iosepa, Ia ia i hele aku ai iwaena o Aigupita; A lohe no hoi au i ka olelo maopopo ole ia'u.
6 I removed from the burden his shoulder: his hands left behind the burden-basket.
Hoopakele ae la au i kona poohiwi i ke kaumaha; Hoopakeleia no hoi kona mau lima i na ipu.
7 In distress thou didst call, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret of the thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)
I ka popilikia, kahea mai oe, a hoopakele aku ai ia oe; A pane aku la au ma kahi malu o ka hekili: Hoao aku au ia oe ma na wai o Meriba.
8 Hear, O my people, and I will give warning unto thee; O Israel, if thou wouldst but hearken unto me!
E hoolohe mai, e ko'u poe kanaka, a e ao aku au ia oe; Ina e hoolohe mai oe ia'u, e ka Iseraela;
9 There shall not be among thee a foreign God; nor shalt thou bow thyself down to any strange God.
Mai noho ke akua e ae me oe, Mai kulou hoi imua o ke akua e ae.
10 I am the Lord thy God, who have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: open wide thy mouth, and I will fill it.
Owau no o Iehova, kou Akua, Nana oe i lawe mai nei mai ka aina o Aigupita mai; E hoohamama i kou waha, a na'u ia e hoopiha ai.
11 But my people did not hearken to my voice; and Israel was not willing [to follow] me.
Aole nae i hoolohe ko'u poe kanaka i ko'u leo; Aole hoi i makemake mai o ka Iseraela ia'u.
12 So I let them go in the stubbornness of their own hearts: and they walked in their own counsels.
Alaila, haawi aku la au ia lakou i ka paakiki o ko lakou naau; A hele hoi lakou ma ko lakou manao iho.
13 Oh that my people would hearken unto me, that Israel would walk in my ways!
Ina i hoolohe ko'u poe kanaka ia'u, Ina i hele o ka Iseraela ma ko'u aoao!
14 In a little while would I subdue their enemies, and against their adversaries would I turn my hand.
Ina ua hoohaahaa koke aku au i ko lakou poe enemi, A ua huli ku e hoi kou lima i ka poe i huhu mai ia lakou:
15 The haters of the Lord should offer flattery unto him; but their time should endure for ever.
Ina ua huli mai hoi ka poe i huhu ia Iehova, A ua mau loa no ko lakou manawa.
16 And he would feed him with the best of wheat: and out of the rock would I satisfy thee with honey.
Ina ua hanai aku oia ia lakou i ka palaoa maikai; A ua hoomaona hoi au ia oe i ka meli mailoko mai o ka pohaku.
