Psalms 81
1 “To the chief musician upon Gittith; by Assaph.” Sing aloud unto God our strength: shout joyfully unto the God of Jacob.
Pour les pressoirs, psaume d’Asaph lui-même. Exultez en Dieu qui est notre aide; poussez des cris de joie vers le Dieu de Jacob.
2 Lift up psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
Entonnez un psaume, et faites entendre un tambour, un psaltérion harmonieux avec une harpe.
3 Blow on the new moon the cornet, at the time appointed, on the day of our feast.
Sonnez de la trompette à la néoménie, au jour insigne de votre solennité;
4 For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance by the God of Jacob.
Parce que c’est un précepte dans Israël, une ordonnance en l’honneur du Dieu de Jacob.
5 As a testimony in Joseph did he ordain it, when he went out over the land of Egypt. The language of one I had not known did I hear.
Il l’établit comme un monument pour Joseph, lorsqu’il sortit de la terre d’Égypte, et qu’il entendit une langue qu’il ne connaissait pas.
6 I removed from the burden his shoulder: his hands left behind the burden-basket.
Il détourna son dos des fardeaux, et ses mains qui servaient à porter les corbeilles.
7 In distress thou didst call, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret of the thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)
Dans la tribulation, tu m’as invoqué, et je t’ai délivré; je t’ai exaucé du fond de la tempête, je t’ai éprouvé auprès de l’eau de contradiction.
8 Hear, O my people, and I will give warning unto thee; O Israel, if thou wouldst but hearken unto me!
Écoute, mon peuple, car je te prendrai à témoin: Israël, si tu m’écoutes,
9 There shall not be among thee a foreign God; nor shalt thou bow thyself down to any strange God.
Il n’y aura pas au milieu de toi de dieu nouveau, et tu n’adoreras pas de dieu étranger.
10 I am the Lord thy God, who have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: open wide thy mouth, and I will fill it.
Car c’est moi qui suis le Seigneur ton Dieu, qui t’ai tiré de la terre d’Égypte; élargis la bouche, je la remplirai.
11 But my people did not hearken to my voice; and Israel was not willing [to follow] me.
Mais mon peuple n’a pas écouté ma voix, et Israël ne m’a pas prêté attention.
12 So I let them go in the stubbornness of their own hearts: and they walked in their own counsels.
Et je les ai abandonnés aux désirs de leur cœur; ils iront dans des voies de leur invention.
13 Oh that my people would hearken unto me, that Israel would walk in my ways!
Si mon peuple m’avait écouté; si Israël avait marché dans mes voies,
14 In a little while would I subdue their enemies, and against their adversaries would I turn my hand.
En un moment j’aurais humilié ses ennemis, et sur ceux qui les tourmentaient, j’aurais lancé ma main.
15 The haters of the Lord should offer flattery unto him; but their time should endure for ever.
Les ennemis du Seigneur lui ont menti, et leur temps durera des siècles.
16 And he would feed him with the best of wheat: and out of the rock would I satisfy thee with honey.
Cependant il les a nourris de moelle de froment, et il les a rassasiés de miel sorti d’une pierre.
