Psalms 78
1 “A Maskil of Assaph.” Give ear, O my people, to my instruction: incline thy ear to the words of my mouth.
Hỡi dân sự ta, hãy lắng tai nghe luật pháp ta; Hãy nghiêng tai qua nghe lời của miệng ta.
2 I will open with a parable my mouth: I will utter riddles out of ancient times;
Ta sẽ mở miệng ra nói thí dụ, Bày ra những câu đố của đời xưa,
3 Which we have heard and know, and which our fathers have related unto us.
Mà chúng ta đã nghe biết, Và tổ phụ chúng ta đã thuật lại cho chúng ta.
4 We will not conceal them from their children, relating to the latest generation the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful deeds which he hath done.
Chúng ta sẽ chẳng giấu các điều ấy cùng con cháu họ, Bèn sẽ thuật lại cho dòng dõi hậu lai những sự ngợi khen Đức Giê-hô-va, Quyền năng Ngài, và công việc lạ lùng mà Ngài đã làm.
5 Yea, he established a testimony in Jacob, and instituted a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
Ngài đã lập chứng cớ nơi Gia-cốp, Định luật pháp trong Y-sơ-ra-ên, Truyền dặn tổ phụ chúng ta phải dạy nó lại cho con cháu mình;
6 In order that the latest generation might know them, even the children that are to be born; that they may arise and relate them to their children;
Hầu cho dòng dõi hậu lai, tức là con cái sẽ sanh, Được biết những điều đó, Rồi phiên chúng nó truyền lại cho con cháu mình;
7 That they may place in God their hope, and not forget the doings of God, but observe his commandments;
Hầu cho chúng nó để lòng trông cậy nơi Đức Chúa Trời, Không hề quên các công việc Ngài, Song gìn giữ các điều răn của Ngài,
8 And that they may not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that had not directed their heart firmly, and whose spirit was not faithful to God.
Để chúng nó chẳng như tổ phụ mình, Là một dòng dõi cố chấp phản nghịch, Chẳng dọn lòng cho chánh đáng, Có tâm thần không trung tín cùng Đức Chúa Trời.
9 The children of Ephraim, like well-armed archers, that turn round on the day of battle,
Con cháu Eùp-ra-im cầm binh khí và giương cung, Có xây lưng lại trong ngày chiến trận.
10 Kept not the covenant of God, and in his law they refused to walk;
Chúng nó không gìn giữ giao ước của Đức Chúa Trời, Cũng không chịu đi theo luật pháp Ngài,
11 And they forgot his deeds, as also his wonders, which he had permitted them to see.
Quên những việc làm của Ngài, Và các công tác lạ lùng mà Ngài đã tỏ cho chúng nó thấy.
12 In the presence of their fathers did he do wonders, in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zo'an.
Tại trong xứ Ê-díp-tô, nơi đồng bằng Xô-an, Ngài làm những phép lạ trước mặt tổ phụ chúng nó.
13 He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters stand upright as a wall.
Ngài rẽ biển ra, làm cho họ đi ngang qua, Khiến nước dựng lên như một đống.
14 And he led them with the cloud by day, and all the night with a light of fire.
Ngài dẫn dắt họ, ban ngày bằng áng mây, Trọn ban đêm bằng ánh sáng lửa.
15 He split rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the mighty deep.
Ngài bửa hòn đá ra trong đồng vắng, Ban cho họ uống nước nhiều như từ vực sâu ra.
16 And he brought forth running streams out of the rock, and caused water to run down like rivers.
Ngài cũng khiến suối từ hòn đá phun ra, Và làm cho nước chảy ra như sông.
17 But they repeated to sin yet more against him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert.
Dầu vậy, họ cứ phạm tội cùng Ngài, Phản nghịch cùng Đấng Chí cao trong đồng vắng.
18 And they tempted God in their heart, by asking food for their desire.
Trong lòng họ thử Đức Chúa Trời, Mà cầu xin đồ ăn theo tình dục mình.
19 Yea, they spoke against God: they said, Will God be able to set in order a table in the wilderness?
Họ nói nghịch cùng Đức Chúa Trời, Mà rằng: Đức Chúa Trời há có thể dọn bàn nơi đồng vắng sao?
20 Behold, he smote the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed: shall he also be able to give bread? or can he provide flesh for his people?
Kìa, Ngài đã đập hòn đá, nước bèn phun ra, Dòng chảy tràn; Ngài há cũng có thể ban bánh sao? Ngài há sẽ sắm sửa thịt cho dân Ngài ư?
21 Therefore, when the Lord heard this, he became wroth: and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also ascended against Israel,
Vì vậy Đức Giê-hô-va có nghe bèn nổi giận; Có lửa cháy nghịch cùng Gia-cốp, Sự giận nổi lên cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên;
22 Because they had not believed in God, and had not trusted in his salvation.
Bởi vì chúng nó không tin Đức Chúa Trời, Cũng chẳng nhờ cậy sự cứu rỗi của Ngài.
23 Then he ordained the skies from above, and the doors of heaven he opened;
Dầu vậy, Ngài khiến các từng mây trên cao, Và mở các cửa trời,
24 And he let rain down upon them manna to eat, and the corn of heaven gave he unto them.
Cho mưa ma-na xuống trên họ đặng ăn, Và ban cho lúa mì từ trên trời.
25 Angels' bread did man eat: he sent them provision to satisfaction.
Người ta ăn bánh của kẻ mạnh dạn; Ngài gởi cho họ đồ ăn đầy đủ.
26 He caused an east wind to pass along the heavens; and he led forth by his strength the south wind.
Ngài khiến gió đông thổi trên trời, Nhờ quyền năng mình Ngài dẫn gió nam.
27 And he let rain upon them flesh [as plentiful] as the dust, and winged birds like the sand of the sea;
Ngài khiến mưa thịt trên chúng nó như bụi tro, Và chim có cánh cũng nhiều như cát biển;
28 And he let them fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.
Ngài làm các vật đó sa xuống giữa trại quân, Khắp xung quanh nơi ở chúng nó.
29 And they ate, and were greatly satisfied, and what they longed for he brought unto them.
Như vậy chúng nó ăn, được no nê chán lán, Ngài ban cho chúng nó điều chúng nó ước ao.
30 They were not estranged from their longing, yet was their food in their mouth:
Chúng nó chưa xây khỏi điều mình ước ao, Vật thực hãy còn trong miệng chúng nó,
31 When the wrath of God ascended against them, and he slew some of the fattest of them, and the young men of Israel did he strike down.
Bèn có cơn giận của Đức Chúa Trời nổi lên cùng chúng nó, Giết những kẻ béo hơn hết, Đánh hạ những người trai trẻ của Y-sơ-ra-ên.
32 With all this they sinned again, and believed not in his wonders.
Mặc dầu các sự ấy, chúng nó còn phạm tội, Không tin các công việc lạ lùng của Ngài.
33 Therefore he caused their days to come to an end in nought, and their years in dread.
Vì cớ ấy Ngài làm cho các ngày chúng nó tan ra hư không, Dùng sự kinh khiếp làm tiêu các năm chúng nó.
34 When he slew them, then did they seek him, and they returned and inquired earnestly after God.
Khi Ngài đánh giết chúng nó, chúng nó bèn cầu hỏi Ngài, Trở lại tìm cầu Đức Chúa Trời cách sốt sắng.
35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the most high God their redeemer.
Chúng nó bèn nhớ lại rằng Đức Chúa Trời là hòn đá của mình, Đức Chúa Trời Chí cao là Đấng cứu chuộc mình.
36 Nevertheless they prayed insincerely to him with their mouth, and with their tongue they lied unto him.
Nhưng chúng nó lấy miệng dua nịnh Ngài, Dùng lưỡi mình nói dối với Ngài.
37 For their heart was not firm with him, and they were not faithful in his covenant.
Vì lòng chúng nó chẳng khắn khít cùng Ngài, Chúng nó cũng không trung tín trong sự giao ước Ngài.
38 But he, being merciful, forgave the iniquity, and destroyed [them] not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not awaken all his fury.
Nhưng Ngài, vì lòng thương xót, tha tội ác cho, chẳng hủy diệt chúng nó: Thật, nhiều khi Ngài xây cơn giận Ngài khỏi, chẳng nổi giận đến cực k”.
39 And he remembered that they are but flesh, a spirit that passeth away, and returneth not again.
Ngài nhớ lại chúng nó chẳng qua là xác thịt, Một hơi thở qua, rồi không trở lại.
40 How oft did they rebel against him in the wilderness, grieve him in the desert!
Biết mấy lần chúng nó phản nghịch cùng Ngài nơi đồng vắng, Và làm phiền Ngài trong chỗ vắng vẻ!
41 Yea, they once more tempted God, and set limits to the Holy One of Israel.
Chúng nó lại thử Đức Chúa Trời, Trêu chọc Đấng thánh của Y-sơ-ra-ên.
42 They remembered not his hand, the day when he ransomed them from the adversary;
Chúng nó không nhớ lại tay của Ngài, Hoặc ngày Ngài giải cứu chúng nó khỏi kẻ hà hiếp;
43 When he displayed in Egypt his signs, and his wonderful tokens in the fields of Zo'an.
Thể nào Ngài đặt các dấu lạ mình tại Ê-díp-tô, Và những phép k” mình trong đồng Xô-an;
44 And he changed their rivers into blood; and their running streams, that they could not drink [of them].
Đổi ra huyết các sông Và các dòng nước chúng nó, đến đỗi không thế uống được.
45 He sent out among them various wild beasts, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
Ngài sai muỗi cắn nuốt họ, Và ếch làm hại chúng nó;
46 And he gave unto the cricket their products, and their labor unto the locust.
Cũng phó hoa lợi chúng nó cho châu chấu, Nộp bông trái công lao họ cho cào cào.
47 He slew with hail their vines, and their sycamore-trees with ice-bolts.
Ngài phá vườn nho chúng nó bằng mưa đá, Hủy cây sung họ bằng tuyết giá;
48 And he surrendered to the hail their cattle, and their herds to the lightning's flashes.
Cũng phó trâu bò chúng nó cho mưa đá, Và nộp bầy chiên họ cho sấm sét.
49 He let loose against them the fierceness of his anger, wrath and indignation, and distress, a host of angels of misfortune.
Ngài thả nghịch chúng nó cơn giận dữ Ngài, Sự thạnh nộ, sự nóng nả, và gian truân, Tức là một lũ sứ tai họa.
50 He leveled a path for his anger; he withheld not from death their soul, and their life he surrendered to the pestilence;
Ngài mở lối cho cơn giận Ngài, Chẳng dong thứ linh hồn họ khỏi chết, Bèn phó mạng sống chúng nó cho dịch hạch;
51 And he smote all the first-born in Egypt; the first of their strength in the tents of Ham;
Cũng đánh giết mọi con đầu lòng trong Ê-díp-tô, Tức là cường-tráng sanh đầu ở trong các trại Cham.
52 But he caused his own people to depart like flocks, and guided them like a drove in the wilderness.
Đoạn Ngài đem dân sự Ngài ra như con chiên. Dẫn dắt họ trong đồng vắng như một bầy chiên.
53 And he led them in safety, so that they felt no dread; but the sea covered over their enemies.
Ngài dẫn chúng nó bình an vô sự, chúng nó chẳng sợ chi: Còn biển lấp lại những kẻ thù nghịch họ.
54 And he brought them to his holy territory, even to this mount, which his right hand had acquired.
Ngài đưa họ đến bờ cõi thánh Ngài, Tức đến núi mà tay hữu Ngài đã được.
55 And he drove out from before them nations, and divided them by the measuring-line as an inheritance, and he caused to dwell in their tents the tribes of Israel.
Ngài cũng đuổi các dân khỏi trước mặt chúng nó, Bắt thăm và chia xứ làm sản nghiệp cho họ, Khiến các chi phái Y-sơ-ra-ên ở trong trại của các dân ấy.
56 Yet they tempted and rebelled against the most high God, and his testimonies they kept not;
Dầu vậy, chúng nó thử và phản nghịch Đức Chúa Trời Chí cao, Không giữ các chứng cớ của Ngài;
57 But swerved aside, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers; they turned about like a deceitful bow.
Nhưng trở lòng, ở bất trung như các tổ phụ mình: Chúng nó sịa như cây cung sai lệch.
58 And they provoked him to anger with their high-places, and with their graven images they moved him to jealousy.
Nhân vì các nơi cao, chúng nó chọc giận Ngài, Giục Ngài phân bì tại vì những tượng chạm.
59 God heard this, and he became wroth, and felt greatly disgusted with Israel;
Khi Đức Chúa Trời nghe điều ấy, bèn nổi giận, Gớm ghiếc Y-sơ-ra-ên quá đỗi;
60 And he cast off the dwelling at Shiloh, the tabernacle where he had dwelt among men;
Đến nỗi bỏ đền tạm tại Si-lô, Tức là trại Ngài đã dựng giữa loài người;
61 And he gave up his strength unto captivity, and his glory into the adversary's hand.
Phó sức lực Ngài bị dẫn tù, Và nộp vinh hiển Ngài vào tay cừu địch.
62 And he surrendered his people unto the sword; and with his inheritance was he wroth.
Ngài cũng phó dân sự Ngài cho bị thanh gươm, Và nổi giận cùng cơ nghiệp mình.
63 His young men the fire devoured; and his virgins were not demanded in marriage.
Lửa thiêu nuốt những gã trai trẻ họ, Còn các nữ đồng trinh không có ai hát nghinh thú.
64 His priests fell by the sword; and his widows did not weep.
Những thầy tế lễ họ bị gươm sa ngã, Song các người góa bụa không than khóc.
65 Then awoke the Lord as one that sleepeth, like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.
Bấy giờ Chúa tỉnh thức như người khỏi giấc ngủ, Khác nào kẻ mạnh dạn reo la vì cớ rượu.
66 And he smote his enemies backward: a perpetual disgrace on them.
Ngài hãm đánh những kẻ cừu địch lui lại, Làm cho chúng nó bị sỉ nhục đời đời.
67 Yet was he disgusted with the tent of Joseph, and of the tribe of Ephraim he made not choice;
Vả lại, Ngài từ chối trại Giô-sép, Cũng chẳng chọn chi phái Eùp-ra-im;
68 But he chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.
Bèn chọn chi phái Giu-đa, Là núi Si-ôn mà Ngài yêu mến.
69 And he built like high [mountains] his sanctuary, like the earth which he hath founded for ever.
Ngài xây đền thánh Ngài giống như nơi rất cao, Khác nào trái đất mà Ngài đã sáng lập đời đời.
70 And he made choice of David his servant, and took him from the sheep-folds:
Ngài cũng chọn Đa-vít là tôi tớ Ngài, Bắt người từ các chuồng chiên:
71 From following the ewes with young he brought him, to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
Ngài đem người khỏi bên các chiên cho bú, Đặng người chăn giữ Gia-cốp, là dân sự Ngài, Và Y-sơ-ra-ên, là cơ nghiệp Ngài.
72 And he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and by the skilfulness of his hands did he lead them.
Như vậy, người chăn giữ họ theo sự thanh liêm lòng người, Và lấy sự khôn khéo tay mình mà dẫn dắt họ.
