Psalms 75

1 “To the chief musician, Al-tashcheth, a psalm or song of Asaph.” We give thanks unto thee, O God, we give thanks, and nigh is thy name: men relate thy wondrous deeds.

[Dem Vorsänger, "Verdirb nicht!" Ein Psalm von Asaph, ein Lied.] Wir preisen dich, o Gott, wir preisen dich; und nahe ist dein Name, deine Wundertaten verkündigen es. [O. ihn; od. man erzählt deine Wundertaten]

2 “For I will take up a fixed time when I will judge uprightly.

"Wenn ich die Versammlung empfangen werde, [O. Wenn ich die bestimmte Zeit erreichen [W. erfassen] werde] will ich in Geradheit richten.

3 The earth and all her inhabitants are melting away: I myself establish firmly her pillars.” (Selah)

Zerschmolzen sind die Erde und alle ihre Bewohner: Ich habe ihre Säulen festgestellt." (Sela)

4 I said unto the arrogant, Deal not arrogantly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn.

Ich sprach zu den Übermütigen: Seid nicht übermütig! und zu den Gesetzlosen: Erhebet nicht das Horn!

5 Lift not up on high your horn, speak not with a stiffly erect neck.

Erhebet nicht hoch euer Horn; redet nicht Freches mit gerecktem Halse!

6 For neither from the rising [of the sun], nor from [his] setting, nor from the wilderness of mountains [cometh this];

Denn nicht von Osten, noch von Westen, und nicht von Süden her [W. von der Wüste her; die Wüste liegt südlich von Palästina] kommt Erhöhung.

7 But God is the judge: he lowereth one, and lifteth up another,

Denn Gott ist Richter; diesen erniedrigt er, und jenen erhöht er.

8 For there is a cup in the hand of the Lord, and the wine foameth, it is full of mixture: and he poureth out of the same; but its lees they drain, they drink—all the wicked of the earth.

Denn ein Becher ist in der Hand Jehovas, und er schäumt von Wein, ist voll von Würzwein, und er schenkt daraus: ja, seine Hefen müssen schlürfend trinken alle Gesetzlosen der Erde.

9 But I will declare for ever, I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

Ich aber, ich will es verkünden ewiglich, will Psalmen singen dem Gott Jakobs.

10 And all the horns of the wicked will I hew off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Und alle Hörner der Gesetzlosen werde ich abhauen; es werden erhöht werden die Hörner der Gerechten.
