Psalms 73
1 BOOK THIRD: “A Psalm of Assaph.” Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are pure of heart.
आसफ का एक स्तोत्र. इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि परमेश्वर इस्राएल के प्रति, उनके प्रति, जिनके हृदय निर्मल हैं, हितकारी हैं.
2 But as for me, it lacked but little that my feet had been moved: almost nothing was needed that my steps had slipped.
वैसे मैं लगभग इस स्थिति तक पहुंच चुका था; कि मेरे पैर फिसलने पर ही थे, मेरे कदम लड़खड़ाने पर ही थे.
3 For I was envious at the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
मुझे दुर्जनों की समृद्धि से डाह होने लगी थी क्योंकि मेरा ध्यान उनके घमंड पर था.
4 For there are no deadly fetters for them, but their strength is firm.
मृत्यु तक उनमें पीड़ा के प्रति कोई संवेदना न थी; उनकी देह स्वस्थ तथा बलवान थी.
5 They share not in the trouble of mortals, and with men are they not afflicted.
उन्हें अन्य मनुष्यों के समान सामान्य समस्याओं का सामना नहीं करना पड़ता; उन्हें परिश्रम भी नहीं करना पड़ता.
6 Therefore is pride their neck-chain: violence envelopeth them as a garment.
अहंकार उनके गले का हार है; तथा हिंसा उनका वस्त्र.
7 Their eyes start out from fatness: they have exceeded their heart's imaginings.
उनके संवेदन शून्य हृदय से अपराध ही निकलता है; उनके मस्तिष्क में घुमड़ती दुष्कल्पनाओं की कोई सीमा ही नहीं है.
8 They scorn, and speak wickedly of oppression: loftily do they speak.
वे उपहास करते रहते हैं, बुराई करने की वार्तालाप करते हैं; तथा अहंकार के साथ वे उत्पीड़न की धमकी देते हैं.
9 They set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh busily on the earth.
उनकी डींगे आकाश तक ऊंची होती हैं, और वे दावा करते हैं कि वे पृथ्वी के अधिकारी हैं.
10 Therefore do his people turn away hither: and waters of a full cup are drained by them.
इसलिये उनके लोग इस स्थान पर लौट आते हैं, और वे भरे हुए जल में से पान करते हैं.
11 And they say, How should God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?
वे कहते हैं, “यह कैसे हो सकता है, कि यह परमेश्वर को ज्ञात हो जाए? क्या परम प्रधान को इसका बोध है?”
12 Behold, these are the wicked; and yet prospering continually they increase in wealth.
ऐसे होते हैं दुष्ट पुरुष—सदैव निश्चिंत; और उनकी संपत्ति में वृद्धि होती रहती है.
13 Verily in vain have I thus cleansed my heart, and have washed in innocency my hands:
क्या लाभ हुआ मुझे अपने हृदय को शुद्ध रखने का? व्यर्थ ही मैंने अपने हाथ निर्दोष रखे.
14 While I was afflicted all the day, and my chastisement [came] every morning.
सारे दिन मैं यातनाएं सहता रहा, प्रति भोर मुझे दंड दिया जाता रहा.
15 But if I were to say, I will speak thus: behold, I would be treacherous against the generation of thy children.
अब मेरा बोलना उन्हीं के जैसा होगा, तो यह आपकी प्रजा के साथ विश्वासघात होता.
16 And when I should think to know this, it would be trouble in my eyes;
मैंने इस मर्म को समझने का प्रयास किया, तो यह अत्यंत कठिन लगा.
17 Until I enter into the sanctuary of God; and understand what their future will be.
तब मैं परमेश्वर के पवित्र स्थान में जा पहुंचा; और वहां मुझ पर दुष्टों की नियति का प्रकाशन हुआ.
18 Surely thou placest them on slippery spots: thou lettest them fall down into destruction.
सचमुच में, आपने दुष्टों को फिसलने वाली भूमि पर रखा है; विनाश होने के लिए आपने उन्हें निर्धारित कर रखा है.
19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they perish, they come to their end with terrific events.
अचानक ही आ पड़ेगा उन पर विनाश, आतंक उन्हें एकाएक ही ले उड़ेगा!
20 As a dream after awaking, O Lord, reject thou in wrath their image.
जब दुस्वप्न के कारण निद्रा से जागने पर एक व्यक्ति दुस्वप्न के रूप से घृणा करता है, हे प्रभु, उसी प्रकार आपके जागने पर उनके स्वरूप से आप घृणा करेंगे!
21 For it fermented in my heart, and in my reins I felt sharp thrusts;
जब मेरा हृदय खेदित था तथा मेरी आत्मा कड़वाहट से भर गई थी,
22 But I was indeed foolish, and I knew it not: I was as a [thoughtless] beast with thee.
उस समय मैं नासमझ और अज्ञानी ही था; आपके सामने मैं पशु समान था.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast seized hold of me by my right hand.
किंतु मैं सदैव आपके निकट रहा हूं; और आप मेरा दायां हाथ थामे रहे.
24 With thy counsel wilt thou guide me, and afterward take me on to glory.
आप अपनी सम्मति द्वारा मेरी अगुवाई करते हैं, और अंत में आप मुझे अपनी महिमा में सम्मिलित कर लेंगे.
25 Whom have I in heaven? and beside thee I desire nothing upon earth.
स्वर्ग में आपके अतिरिक्त मेरा कौन है? आपकी उपस्थिति में मुझे पृथ्वी की किसी भी वस्तु की कामना नहीं रह जाती.
26 Though my flesh and my heart should fall; yet the rock of my heart, and my portion will be God for ever.
यह संभव है कि मेरी देह मेरा साथ न दे और मेरा हृदय क्षीण हो जाए, किंतु मेरा बल स्वयं परमेश्वर हैं; वही मेरी निधि हैं.
27 For, lo, those that are far from thee shall perish: thou destroyest every one that strayeth away from thee.
क्योंकि वे, जो आपसे दूर हैं, नष्ट हो जाएंगे; आपने उन सभी को नष्ट कर दिया है, जो आपके प्रति विश्वासघाती हैं.
28 But as regardeth me, to draw near to God is good for me: I have put in the Lord Eternal my trust, that I may relate all thy works.
मेरा अपना अनुभव यह है, कि मनोरम है परमेश्वर का सान्निध्य. मैंने प्रभु याहवेह को अपना आश्रय-स्थल बना लिया है; कि मैं आपके समस्त महाकार्य को लिख सकूं.
