Psalms 7
1 “A Shiggayon of David, which he sang unto the Lord, concerning the affairs of Cush the Benjamite.” O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust; save me from every one of my persecutors, and deliver me:
Psaume de David qu’il chanta au Seigneur, à cause des paroles de Chus, fils de Jémini. Seigneur, mon Dieu, c’est en vous que j’ai espéré; sauvez-moi de tous ceux qui me persécutent et délivrez-moi.
2 Lest he tear like a lion my soul, rending it in pieces, with none to deliver.
De peur qu’enfin, comme un lion, il ne ravisse mon âme, tandis qu’il n’y a personne qui me délivre et me sauve.
3 O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be injustice in my hands;
Seigneur mon Dieu, si j’ai fait cela, si l’iniquité est dans mes mains;
4 If I have recompensed him that was at peace with me with evil; If I have taken aught from my assailants without cause:
Si j’ai rendu le mal à ceux qui m’en avaient fait, que je tombe devant mes ennemis sans défense; je l’ai mérité.
5 May the enemy hotly pursue my soul, and overtake it; and tread down upon the earth my life, and cause my honor to be in the dust. (Selah)
Que l’ennemi poursuive mon âme, qu’il la saisisse, et qu’il foule ma vie contre la terre, et qu’il ensevelisse ma gloire dans la poussière.
6 Arise, O Lord, in thy anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of my enemies: and awake for me [to] the judgment that thou hast commanded.
Levez-vous, Seigneur, dans votre colère, et paraissez dans votre grandeur au milieu de mes ennemis. Levez-vous, Seigneur mon Dieu, selon le précepte que vous avez établi.
7 So shall the congregation of nations compass thee about: and for their sakes return thou to the height.
Et l’assemblée des peuples vous environnera. Et à cause d’elle retournez en haut.
8 The Lord will judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity [grant] me [recompense].
Le Seigneur juge les peuples. Jugez-moi, Seigneur, selon ma justice, et selon l’innocence qui est en moi.
9 Oh let the evil of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just, O thou, who triest the hearts and reins, O righteous God.
La méchanceté des pécheurs sera anéantie, et vous dirigerez le juste, ô Dieu qui sondez les cœurs et les reins.
10 My protection is by God, who saveth the upright in heath.
Un juste secours me viendra du Seigneur, qui sauve les hommes droits de cœur.
11 God is a righteous judge, and a God who is indignant [with the wicked] every day.
Dieu est un juge équitable, fort et patient; est-ce qu’il s’irrite tous les jours?
12 If he turn not, He will whet his sword, he bendeth his bow, and maketh it ready.
Si vous ne vous convertissez, il fera vibrer son glaive; il a tendu son arc, et il l’a préparé.
13 Also for him he prepareth the instruments of death; he fashioneth his arrows against the persecutors.
Il y a adapté des instruments de mort, il a préparé ses flèches contre les ardents persécuteurs.
14 Behold, he travaileth with wrong doing; but he hath conceived mischief, and bringeth forth falsehood.
Voilà qu’il a enfanté l’injustice: il a conçu la douleur et a mis au monde l’iniquité.
15 He hath hollowed out a pit, and dug it, and is fallen into the ditch which he hath wrought.
Il a ouvert un abîme, et il l’a creusé; et il est tombé dans la fosse qu’il avait faite.
16 His mischief will return upon his own head, and upon his own skull will his violence come down.
La douleur qu’il voulait me causer retournera sur sa tête; et son iniquité descendra sur lui.
17 I will thank the Lord according to his righteousness; and I will sing praises to the name of the Lord the Most High.
Je louerai le Seigneur selon sa justice; je chanterai le nom du Dieu très-haut.
