Psalms 66
1 “To the chief musician, a song or psalm.” Shout joyfully unto God, all ye lands:
Au maître-chantre. — Cantique. — Psaume. Poussez vers Dieu des cris de joie. Vous tous, habitants de la terre!
2 Sing forth the glory of his name; make glorious his praise.
Chantez la gloire de son nom; Louez-le et rendez-lui gloire!
3 Say unto God, How fear-inspiring is every one of thy works! through the greatness of thy strength will thy enemies yield feigned obedience unto thee.
Dites à Dieu: «Que tes oeuvres sont redoutables! A cause de la grandeur de ta force. Tes ennemis viendront te flatter.
4 All the lands shall bow themselves down unto thee, and shall sing praises unto thee; they shall sing praises to thy name. (Selah)
Toute la terre se prosternera devant toi. Elle entonnera tes louanges; Elle célébrera ton nom.» (Pause)
5 Come and see the deeds of God: fear-inspiring is his doing toward the children of men.
Venez et voyez les grandes oeuvres de Dieu: Il accomplit les prodiges les plus redoutables Parmi les fils des hommes.
6 He changed the sea into dry land: through the river they went on foot: there did we rejoice in him.
Il a changé la mer en terre ferme: Dans le fleuve on passait à pied sec; C'est là que nous nous sommes réjouis en lui.
7 He ruleth by his might for ever; his eyes look upon the nations: the rebellious—these shall not be exalted. (Selah)
Il domine éternellement par sa puissance; Ses yeux observent les nations: Que les rebelles ne relèvent pas la tête! (Pause)
8 Bless, O ye people, our God, and cause the voice of his praise to be heard:
Peuples, bénissez notre Dieu, Et faites entendre le chant de ses louanges;
9 Who hath appointed our soul to life, and hath not suffered our foot to slip.
C'est lui qui nous a conservé la vie, Et il n'a pas permis que notre pied vînt à chanceler.
10 For thou hast proved us, O God: thou hast refined us, as silver is refined.
Car tu nous as éprouvés, ô Dieu; Tu nous as fait passer au creuset comme l'argent.
11 Thou hast brought us into the net; thou hast placed fetters upon our loins.
Tu nous avais amenés dans le filet; Tu avais mis un lourd fardeau sur nos reins.
12 Thou hast caused men to ride on our head: we entered into fire and into water; but thou broughtest us out to [the enjoyment] of overflowing plenty. a
Tu avais permis à nos ennemis De passer à cheval sur nos têtes. Nous étions entrés dans le feu et dans l'eau; Mais tu nous en as retirés pour nous combler de biens.
13 I will enter thy house with burnt-offerings: I will pay unto thee my vows,
J'entrerai dans ton temple avec des holocaustes. Et je m'acquitterai envers toi de mes voeux,
14 Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in distress.
Des voeux que mes lèvres ont exprimés. Et que ma bouche a prononcés dans ma détresse.
15 Burnt-offerings of fatlings will I offer up unto thee, with the incense of rams; I will prepare steers with he-goats. (Selah)
Je t'offrirai des bêtes grasses en holocauste, Avec la fumée des béliers; J'immolerai des taureaux et des boucs. (Pause)
16 Come, hear, and I will relate, all ye that fear God, what he hath done for my soul.
Venez, écoutez, vous tous qui craignez Dieu, Et je raconterai ce qu'il a fait à mon âme.
17 Unto him I cried with my mouth, and a song of extolling was on my tongue.
Mes lèvres l'ont invoqué. Et ma langue a chanté sa louange.
18 If I had looked on wickedness with my heart, the Lord would not have heard;
Si j'avais eu dans le coeur quelque intention coupable, Le Seigneur ne m'aurait point exaucé.
19 But verily God hath heard; he hath listened to the voice of my prayer.
Mais Dieu m'a écouté; Il a prêté l'oreille à ma voix suppliante.
20 Blessed be God, who hath not removed my prayer [from him], nor his kindness from me.
Béni soit Dieu, Qui n'a point rejeté ma prière, Et qui ne m'a pas retiré sa miséricorde!
