< Psalms 65 >
1 “To the chief musician, a psalm [and] song of David.” For thee praise is waiting, O God, in Zion: and unto thee shall vows be paid.
For the chief musician. A psalm. A song of David. For you, God in Zion, our praise waits; our vows will be carried out to you.
2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee all flesh shall come.
You who hear prayer, to you all flesh will come.
3 The iniquitous things have become too mighty for me: our transgressions—these wilt thou wipe away.
Iniquities prevail against us; as for our transgressions, you will forgive them.
4 Happy is he whom thou choosest, and causest to approach, that he may dwell in thy courts: let us be satisfied with the happiness of thy house, the holiness of thy temple.
Blessed is the man whom you choose to bring near to you so that he may live in your courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of your house, your holy temple.
5 With terrific deeds in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation, who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of the sea, that are far away;
In righteousness you will answer us by doing amazing things, God of our salvation; you who are hope of all the ends of the earth and of those who are far across the sea.
6 Who setteth firmly the mountains by his power, who is girded with might;
For it is you who made the mountains firm, you who are belted with strength.
7 Who assuageth the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the tumult of nations.
It is you who quiet the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the commotion of the peoples.
8 And they that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid of thy wondrous signs: the outgoings of the morning and evening thou causest to rejoice.
Those who live in the uttermost parts of the earth are afraid of the evidence of your deeds; you make the east and the west rejoice.
9 Thou hast thought of the earth, and waterest her abundantly; thou greatly enrichest her; the brook of God is full of water: thou preparest their corn, when thou hast thus prepared her.
You come to help the earth; you water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide mankind grain when you have prepared the earth.
10 Watering her furrows abundantly, smoothing down her ridges, thou softenest her with showers; thou blessest her growth.
You water its furrows abundantly; you settle down the furrows' ridges; you make them soft with rain showers; you bless the sprouts between them.
11 Thou hast crowned the year of thy goodness; and thy tracks drop fatness:
You crown the year with your goodness, and your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.
12 The pastures of the wilderness are dropping [with plenty]: and the hills are girt with gladness.
The pastures in the wilderness drip with dew, and the hills are clothed with joy.
13 The meadows are clothed with flocks, and the valleys are enveloped with corn: men shout for joy, [yea, ] they also sing.
The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with grain; they shout for joy, and they sing.
