< Psalms 64 >

1 “To the chief musician, a psalm of David.” Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint: preserve my life from the dread of the enemy.
For the end, a Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O God, when I make my petition to you; deliver my soul from fear of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers, from the tumultuous assault of the workers of wickedness;
You have sheltered me from the conspiracy of them that do wickedly; from the multitude of them that work iniquity;
3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, who aim with their arrow, the bitter word:
who have sharpened their tongues as a sword; they have bent their bow maliciously;
4 To shoot in secret at the innocent; suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
to shoot in secret at the blameless; they will shoot him suddenly, and will not fear.
5 They encourage themselves in an evil plan; they tell secretly of laying snares: they say, Who will see them?
They have set up for themselves an evil matter, they have given counsel to hide snares; they have said, Who shall see them?
6 They search out iniquities; “We are ready with the carefully searched out device:” and the inward thought and heart of each is deeply [hidden].
They have searched out iniquity; they have wearied themselves with searching diligently, a man shall approach and the heart is deep,
7 But God shooteth at them suddenly [his] arrow; —[thence] are come their wounds.
and God shall be exalted, their wounds were [caused by] the weapon of the foolish children,
8 And their own tongues will stumble over themselves: all that look on them will shake their head.
and their tongues have set him at nothing, all that saw them were troubled;
9 All men shall fear, and shall declare the deeds of God, and understand his works.
and every man was alarmed, and they related the works of God, and understood his deeds.
10 The righteous shall rejoice in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glorify themselves.
The righteous shall rejoice in the Lord, and hope on him, and all the upright in heart shall be praised.
