Psalms 56
1 “To the chief musician upon Jonath-elem-rechokim, by David, a Michtham, when the Philistines seized him in Gath.” Be gracious unto me, O God; for man longeth to swallow me up; all the time he oppresseth me fighting.
Pour le peuple qui a été éloigné des saints (ou des choses saintes); par David, pour une inscription de titre, lorsque les Allophylles (étrangers) le retinrent dans Geth. Ayez pitié de moi, ô Dieu, parce qu’un homme m’a foulé aux pieds: tout le jour m’attaquant, il m’a tourmenté.
2 Those that regard me with envy long to swallow [me] up all the time; for many are they that fight against me, O thou Most High.
Mes ennemis m’ont foulé aux pieds tout le jour; parce qu’ils sont nombreux, ceux qui combattent contre moi.
3 The day [when] I am afraid, I will still trust in thee.
Dès la hauteur du jour, je viendrai; mais j’espérerai en vous.
4 In God will I praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid: what can flesh do unto me?
En Dieu je louerai mes discours, en Dieu j’ai espéré; je ne craindrai pas ce que pourra me faire la chair.
5 All the day they wrest my words: against me are all their thoughts for evil.
Tout le jour ils exécraient mes paroles: c’est contre moi que toutes leurs pensées s’exerçaient au mal.
6 They come together in troops, they hide themselves, they are those that watch my heels, as though they hoped [to take] my soul.
Ils habiteront près de moi et ils se cacheront; en même temps, ils observeront mes pas. Comme ils ont attendu avec constance mon âme pour la perdre,
7 Because of their wrong-doing let me escape from them: in anger cast down the people, O God.
Vous ne les sauverez à aucun prix: dans votre colère, vous briserez des peuples. Ô Dieu!
8 My wanderings hast thou well numbered: put thou my tears into thy bottle; behold, they are numbered by thee.
Je vous ai exposé ma vie; vous avez mis mes larmes en votre présence, Comme aussi dans votre promesse.
9 Then shall my enemies retire backward on the day when I call [on thee]: this I know—that God is for me.
Alors mes ennemis seront rejetés en arrière. En quelque jour que je vous aie invoqué, j’ai connu que vous êtes mon Dieu.
10 In God will I praise the word: in the Lord will I praise the word.
En Dieu, je louerai une parole; dans le Seigneur, je louerai un discours:
11 In God have I put my trust; I will not be afraid: what can man do unto me?
en Dieu j’ai espéré, je ne craindrai pas ce que pourra me faire un homme.
12 Upon me, O God, [rest] thy vows: I will pay thanksgiving offerings unto thee.
Je vous dois, ô Dieu, des vœux que j’acquitterai, et des louanges en votre honneur.
13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death—yea, behold, my feet from slipping, that I may walk before God in the light of the life.
Parce que vous avez arraché mon âme à la mort, et mes pieds à la chute, afin que je me rende agréable devant Dieu, dans la lumière des vivants.
