< Psalms 55 >
1 “To the chief musician on Neginoth, a Maskil of David.” Give ear, O God, to my prayer, and hide not thyself from my supplication.
Ki he Takimuʻa ʻi he Nekina, ko e Saame akonaki ʻa Tevita. Fakafanongo ki heʻeku lotu, ʻE ʻotua; pea ʻoua naʻa ke fufū koe mei heʻeku lotu tāumaʻu.
2 Listen unto me, and answer me: I mourn in my grief, and moan;
ʻAfio mai kiate au, mo ke ongoʻi au: ʻoku ou lāunga ʻi heʻeku mamahi, pea tangi kalanga;
3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; for they cast wrong upon me, and in wrath they attack me.
Koeʻuhi ko e leʻo ʻoe fili, koeʻuhi ko e taʻomia ʻe he kau angakovi: he kuo nau tuku ʻae hia kiate au, pea ʻi he ʻita ʻoku nau fehiʻa kiate au.
4 My heart is sorely pained within me, and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
ʻOku mamahi lahi hoku loto ʻiate au: pea kuo tō kiate au ʻae ngaahi fakailifia ʻoe mate.
5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and shuddering hath covered me.
Kuo hoko kiate au ʻae manavahē mo e tetetete, pea kuo lōmakiʻi au ʻe he lilika.
6 And I said, Oh that some one would give me wings like a dove! I would fly away and dwell [quietly].
Pea naʻaku pehē, Taumaiā ke u maʻu ʻae kapakau ʻo hangē ko e lupe! Koeʻuhi ke u puna atu, pea fiemālie ai.
7 Lo, I would flee far away, I would spend my night in the wilderness. (Selah)
Vakai, te u ʻalu ʻo hē ki he mamaʻo, pea u nofo ʻi he toafa. (Sila)
8 I would prepare hastily a refuge for me from the sweeping wind [and] from storm.
Te u ʻalu fakatoʻotoʻo, ʻo hao mei he matangi lahi mo e afā.
9 Destroy, O Lord, divide their tongue; for I have seen violence and strife in the city;
Fakaʻauha, ʻE Sihova, pea vahevahe honau ʻelelo: he naʻaku mamata ki he fakamālohi mo e fekeʻikeʻi ʻi he kolo.
10 Day and night do these encompass it upon her walls: and wrong and trouble are in her midst.
ʻOku nau ʻalu fano ai ʻi he ngaahi ʻā ʻo ia ʻi he ʻaho mo e pō: ʻoku ʻi loto ʻi ai ʻae pauʻu mo e mamahi.
11 Mischief is in her midst: guile and deceit depart not from her streets.
ʻOku ʻi ai ʻae kovi: ʻoku ʻikai mahuʻi mei hono ngaahi hala ʻae fakamālohi mo e kākā.
12 For it is not an enemy that reproached me; then I could bear it: not he that hateth me hath magnified himself against me; then I would have hidden myself from him;
He naʻe ʻikai ko ha fili ʻaia naʻa ne lauʻikoviʻi au; ka ne pehē, te u faʻa kātaki ia: pea naʻe ʻikai ko ia ʻoku ne fehiʻa kiate au ʻaia kuo hiki hake ia kiate au ka ne pehē, te u faʻa fufū au meiate ia.
13 But it is thou, a man my equal, my guide, and my acquaintance;
Ka ko koe ia, ko e tangata ʻoku ta tatau, ko hoku fakahinohino, mo hoku kaumeʻa.
14 So that we took sweet secret counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in tumultuous company.
Naʻa ta alea lelei mo au, pea ʻalu fakataha ki he fale ʻoe ʻOtua.
15 Let him dispense death over them; let them go down alive into the nether world; for evil is in their dwelling, in the midst of them. (Sheol )
Ke puke ʻakinautolu ʻe he mate, pea tuku ke ʻalu vave hifo ʻakinautolu ki hētesi: he ʻoku ʻi honau ngaahi nofoʻanga, pea ʻiate kinautolu ʻae kovi. (Sheol )
16 I, however, will call on God: and the Lord will save me.
Ka ko au te u ui ki he ʻOtua; pea ʻe fakamoʻui au ʻe Sihova.
17 At evening and morning and noon will I make my complaint and moan: and he heareth my voice.—
ʻI he efiafi, mo e pongipongi, mo e hoʻatā, te u lotu, mo tangi leʻo lahi: pea te ne ongoʻi hoku leʻo.
18 He delivereth my soul in peace from the battle against me; for in multitudes are they [contending] with me.
Kuo ne fakamoʻui hoku laumālie ʻi he melino mei he tau naʻe tuʻu hake kiate au: he naʻe ʻiate au ʻae tokolahi.
19 God will hear, and humble them—yea, he that sitteth enthroned from the oldest time Selah—those who dread no changes, and fear not God.
20 He stretcheth out his hands against those at peace with him: he violateth his covenant.
Naʻa ne mafao atu hono nima kiate kinautolu ʻaia naʻe nonofo ʻi he melino mo ia: kuo maumauʻi ʻe ia ʻene fuakava.
21 The creamy words of his mouth are smooth, yet there is war [in] his heart; his words are softer than oil, yet are they drawn swords.
Ko e ngaahi lea ʻa hono ngutu naʻe molemole lahi hake ʻi he pota, ka naʻe ʻi hono loto ʻae tau: naʻe molū lahi ʻene ngaahi lea ʻi he lolo, ka ko e moʻoni ko e ngaahi heletā ia kuo unuhi.
22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he will sustain thee: he will never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Ke ke tuku hoʻo kavenga kia Sihova, pea te ne poupou koe: ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito te ne tuku ke ngaue ʻae kakai māʻoniʻoni.
23 But thou, O God, thou wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction: let not the men of blood and deceit live out half their days; but I will indeed trust in thee.
Ka ko koe, ʻE ʻOtua te ke ʻohifo ʻakinautolu ki he luo ʻoe fakaʻauha: ko e kau tangata pani toto mo ngāue kākā ʻe ʻikai tenau aʻusia hono vaeuaʻanga ʻo honau ngaahi ʻaho; ka te u falala kiate koe.
