Psalms 54

1 “To the chief musician on Neginoth, a Maskil of David, When the Ziphim came and said to Saul, Behold, David is hiding himself with us.” O God, by thy name save me, and by thy strength grant me justice.

Een onderwijzing van David, voor den opperzangmeester, op de Neginoth; Als de Zifieten gekomen waren, en tot Saul gezegd hadden: Verbergt zich David niet bij ons? O God! verlos mij door Uw Naam, en doe mij recht door Uw macht.

2 O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.

O God! hoor mijn gebed; neig de oren tot de redenen mijns monds.

3 For strangers [to goodness] are risen up against me, and powerful oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. (Selah)

Want vreemden staan tegen mij op, en tirannen zoeken mijn ziel; zij stellen God niet voor hun ogen. (Sela)

4 Behold, God is a helper unto me: the Lord is among those that uphold my soul.

Ziet, God is mij een Helper; de Heere is onder degenen, die mijn ziel ondersteunen.

5 He will cause the evil to return upon those that regard me with envy: in thy truth cut them off.

Hij zal dit kwaad mijn verspieders vergelden; roei hen uit door Uw waarheid.

6 I will liberally sacrifice unto thee: I will give thanks unto thy name, O Lord; for it is good.

Ik zal U met vrijwilligheid offeren; ik zal Uw Naam, o HEERE! loven, want Hij is goed.

7 For out of all distress hath he delivered me: and my eye hath seen [its desire] on my enemies.

Want Hij heeft mij gered uit alle benauwdheid; en mijn oog heeft gezien op mijn vijanden.
