Psalms 52

1 “To the chief musician, a Maskil of David, When Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Achimelech.” What vauntest thou thyself of wickedness, O mighty man? the kindness of God endureth all the time.

Eine Unterweisung Davids, vorzusingen, da Doeg, der Edomiter, kam und sagte Saul an und sprach: David ist in Ahimelechs Haus kommen. Was trotzest du denn, du Tyrann, daß du kannst Schaden tun, so doch Gottes Güte noch täglich währet?

2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs, like a sharpened razor, thou worker of deceit.

Deine Zunge trachtet nach Schaden und schneidet mit Lügen wie ein scharf Schermesser.

3 Thou lovest evil more than good; falsehood more than speaking righteousness. (Selah)

Du redest lieber Böses denn Gutes und falsch denn recht. (Sela)

4 Thou lovest all words of destruction, the tongue of deceit.

Du redest gern alles, was zu Verderben dienet, mit falscher Zunge.

5 [Therefore] God will also destroy thee for ever: he will take thee away, and pluck thee out of his tent, and root thee out of the land of life. (Selah)

Darum wird dich Gott auch ganz und gar zerstören und zerschlagen und aus der Hütte reißen und aus dem Lande der Lebendigen ausrotten. (Sela)

6 And the righteous shall see it, and they will be afraid, and laugh concerning him:

Und die Gerechten werden's sehen und sich fürchten und werden sein lachen:

7 “Lo, this is the man that made not God his fortress; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, relied proudly on his mischievous wickedness.”

Siehe, das ist der Mann, der Gott nicht für seinen Trost hielt, sondern verließ sich auf seinen großen Reichtum und war mächtig, Schaden zutun.

8 But I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I trust in the kindness of God for ever and ever.

9 I will thank thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for [it is] good, before thy pious ones.
