Psalms 52
1 “To the chief musician, a Maskil of David, When Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Achimelech.” What vauntest thou thyself of wickedness, O mighty man? the kindness of God endureth all the time.
Au maître de chant. Cantique de David. Lorsque Doëg l’Edomite vint faire à Saül ce rapport: David s’est rendu dans la maison d’Achimélech. Pourquoi te glorifies-tu dans le mal, ô héros! — La bonté de Dieu subsiste toujours! —
2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs, like a sharpened razor, thou worker of deceit.
Ta langue ne médite que malice, comme une lame affilée, fourbe que tu es!
3 Thou lovest evil more than good; falsehood more than speaking righteousness. (Selah)
Tu aimes le mal plutôt que le bien, le mensonge plutôt que la droiture. — Séla.
4 Thou lovest all words of destruction, the tongue of deceit.
Tu aimes toutes les paroles de perdition, ô langue menteuse!
5 [Therefore] God will also destroy thee for ever: he will take thee away, and pluck thee out of his tent, and root thee out of the land of life. (Selah)
Aussi Dieu va te renverser pour toujours, il te saisira et t’arrachera de la tente, il te déracinera de la terre des vivants. — Séla.
6 And the righteous shall see it, and they will be afraid, and laugh concerning him:
Les justes le verront et ils seront effrayés, et ils se riront de lui:
7 “Lo, this is the man that made not God his fortress; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, relied proudly on his mischievous wickedness.”
« Voilà l’homme qui ne prenait pas Dieu pour sa forteresse, mais qui se confiait dans la grandeur de ses richesses, et se faisait fort de sa malice! »
8 But I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I trust in the kindness of God for ever and ever.
Et moi, je suis comme un olivier verdoyant; dans la maison de Dieu, je me confie dans la bonté de Dieu à tout jamais.
9 I will thank thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for [it is] good, before thy pious ones.
Je te louerai sans cesse parce que tu as fait cela; et j’espérerai en ton nom, car il est bon, en présence de tes fidèles.
