Psalms 52

1 “To the chief musician, a Maskil of David, When Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Achimelech.” What vauntest thou thyself of wickedness, O mighty man? the kindness of God endureth all the time.

Davidin opetus, edelläveisaajalle, Kuin Edomilainen Doeg tuli ja ilmoitti Saulille, ja sanoi hänelle: David on tullut Ahimelekin huoneeseen. Mitäs kerskaat pahuudessas, sinä väkevä? Jumalan laupius pysyy joka päivä.

2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs, like a sharpened razor, thou worker of deceit.

Sinun kieles ajattelee vahinkoa ja leikkaa valheellansa niinkuin terävä partaveitsi.

3 Thou lovest evil more than good; falsehood more than speaking righteousness. (Selah)

Sinä rakastat enempi pahaa kuin hyvää, ja puhut valhetta pikemmin kuin oikeutta, (Sela)

4 Thou lovest all words of destruction, the tongue of deceit.

Sinä puhut mielelläs kaikkia murhasanoja väärällä kielellä.

5 [Therefore] God will also destroy thee for ever: he will take thee away, and pluck thee out of his tent, and root thee out of the land of life. (Selah)

Niin Jumala myös kukistaa sinun ijankaikkisesti: hän murentaa sinun, ja majasta tempaa sinun ulos, ja juurittaa sinun ulos eläväin maalta, (Sela)

6 And the righteous shall see it, and they will be afraid, and laugh concerning him:

Ja vanhurskasten pitää sen näkemän ja pelkäämän; ja he nauravat häntä.

7 “Lo, this is the man that made not God his fortress; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, relied proudly on his mischievous wickedness.”

Katso, tämä on se mies, joka ei pitänyt Jumalaa turvanansa, vaan uskalsi suureen rikkauteensa: hän on vahvistunut pahuudessansa.

8 But I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I trust in the kindness of God for ever and ever.

Mutta minä olen niinkuin viheriäinen öljypuu Herran huoneessa: minä uskallan Jumalan laupiuteen aina ja ijankaikkisesti.

9 I will thank thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for [it is] good, before thy pious ones.

Minä tahdon sinua kiittää ijankaikkisesti, ettäs sen teit, ja odottaa sinun nimeäs; sillä se on hyvä sinun pyhäis edessä.
