< Psalms 47 >

1 “To the chief musician, a psalm for the sons of Korach.” All ye people, clap your hands; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
[For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by the sons of Korah.] Oh clap your hands, all you nations. Shout to God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the Lord is most high, fear-inspiring; he is a great king over all the earth.
For the LORD Most High is awesome. He is a great King over all the earth.
3 He will subdue people under us, and nations under our feet.
He subdues nations under us, and peoples under our feet.
4 He will choose for us our inheritance, the excellency of Jacob which he loveth. (Selah)
He chooses our inheritance for us, the glory of Jacob whom he loved. (Selah)
5 God ascendeth amid a triumphal shout, the Lord, amid the sound of the cornet.
God has gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
Sing praise to God, sing praises. Sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7 For God is King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
For God is the King of all the earth. Sing praises with understanding.
8 God reigneth over the nations; God sitteth upon his holy throne.
God reigns over the nations. God sits on his holy throne.
9 The nobles of the people are gathered together, [to be with] the people of the God of Abraham; for unto God belong the shields of the earth: he is greatly exalted.
The princes of the peoples are gathered together, the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God. He is greatly exalted.
