Psalms 41

1 “To the chief musician, a psalm of David.” Happy is he that careth for the poor: on the day of evil will the Lord deliver him.

Dem Sangmeister. Ein Psalm Davids.

2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; he shall be made happy on the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the revengeful desire of his enemies.

Heil dem, der des Armen sich annimmt, / Am Tage des Unglücks wird Jahwe ihn retten.

3 The Lord will sustain him upon the bed of painful disease: thou changest all his couch in his sickness.

Jahwe schirmt ihn, erhält ihn am Leben, / Daß man im Lande ihn glücklich preist. / Nicht gibst du ihn hin seiner Feinde Wut.

4 I said, Lord, be gracious unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Jahwe wird ihn auf dem Siechbett stützen; / Seine Krankheit wandelst du zur Genesung.

5 My enemies speak evil of me, When will he die, and his name perish?

Ich spreche: "Jahwe, sei mir gnädig, / Heile mich: ich habe gesündigt an dir!"

6 And if he come to see [me], he speaketh falsely: his heart gathereth wickedness to itself; he goeth abroad [and] speaketh it.

Meine Feinde wünschen mir Böses an: / "Wann stirbt er? Wann wird sein Name vergehn?"

7 Altogether whisper against me all that hate me: against me do they devise my injury.

Besucht mich einer, so redet er Lüge. / Sein Herz sammelt Bosheit an; / Dann geht er hinaus und macht es kund.

8 “His godless deed [say they] is poured out over him: as he lieth there he will never more rise up again.”

All meine Hasser zischeln gemeinsam wider mich, / Sie sinnen Unheil gegen mich aus:

9 Yea, even the man that should have sought my welfare, in whom I trusted, who eateth my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

"Verderben ist über ihn ausgegossen; / Er hat sich gelegt, steht nicht wieder auf."

10 But thou, O Lord, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite it unto them.

Selbst mein Freund, auf den ich vertraute, mein Tischgenosse / Hebt nun seine Ferse gegen mich.

11 By this do I know that thou art pleased with me, that my enemy doth not triumph over me.

Du aber, Jahwe, sei mir gnädig und richte mich auf, / Damit ich es ihnen vergelte!

12 But as for me, thou upholdest me in my integrity, and placest me before thy presence for ever.

So erkenne ich dann, daß du mich liebst, / Wenn mein Feind nicht über mich jubeln darf.

13 Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen. BEGIM

Mich aber hältst du aufrecht ob meiner Unschuld / Und stellst mich vor dein Antlitz auf ewig. Gepriesen sei Jahwe, Israels Gott, / Von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! / Amen, Amen.
