Psalms 41
1 “To the chief musician, a psalm of David.” Happy is he that careth for the poor: on the day of evil will the Lord deliver him.
Veisuunjohtajalle; Daavidin virsi. Autuas se, joka vaivaista holhoo! Hänet Herra pelastaa pahana päivänä.
2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; he shall be made happy on the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the revengeful desire of his enemies.
Herra varjelee häntä ja pitää hänet hengissä, ja maassa ylistetään hänen onneansa, etkä sinä anna häntä alttiiksi hänen vihollistensa raivolle.
3 The Lord will sustain him upon the bed of painful disease: thou changest all his couch in his sickness.
Herra tukee häntä tautivuoteessa; hänen sairasvuoteensa sinä peräti muutat.
4 I said, Lord, be gracious unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
Minä sanoin: "Herra, ole minulle armollinen, paranna minun sieluni, sillä minä olen tehnyt syntiä sinua vastaan".
5 My enemies speak evil of me, When will he die, and his name perish?
Minun viholliseni puhuvat minusta pahaa: "Milloinka hän kuolee ja hänen nimensä katoaa?"
6 And if he come to see [me], he speaketh falsely: his heart gathereth wickedness to itself; he goeth abroad [and] speaketh it.
Ja jos joku tulee minua katsomaan, puhuu hän petosta; hänen sydämensä kerää häijyyttä itseensä, hän menee ulos kadulle ja purkaa sitä.
7 Altogether whisper against me all that hate me: against me do they devise my injury.
Kaikki minun vihamieheni minusta keskenään kuiskuttelevat ja hankitsevat minulle pahaa:
8 “His godless deed [say they] is poured out over him: as he lieth there he will never more rise up again.”
"Jokin parantumaton paha on häneen tarttunut, ja siitä, missä hän makaa, hän ei enää nouse".
9 Yea, even the man that should have sought my welfare, in whom I trusted, who eateth my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
Ystävänikin, johon minä luotin, joka minun leipääni söi, nostaa kantapäänsä minua vastaan.
10 But thou, O Lord, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite it unto them.
Mutta sinä, Herra, armahda minua ja auta minut ylös, pystyyn, niin minä sen heille maksan.
11 By this do I know that thou art pleased with me, that my enemy doth not triumph over me.
Siitä minä tiedän sinun mielistyneen minuun, ettei minun viholliseni saa minusta riemuita.
12 But as for me, thou upholdest me in my integrity, and placest me before thy presence for ever.
Minun nuhteettomuuteni tähden sinä minua tuet ja annat minun seisoa kasvojesi edessä ainiaan.
13 Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen. BEGIM
