Psalms 41
1 “To the chief musician, a psalm of David.” Happy is he that careth for the poor: on the day of evil will the Lord deliver him.
Davidin Psalmi, edelläveisaajalle. Autuas on, joka köyhää holhoo: häntä Herra auttaa pahana päivänä.
2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; he shall be made happy on the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the revengeful desire of his enemies.
Herra kätkee hänen ja pitää hänen elävänä, että hän menestyy maan päällä, ja ei hylkää häntä vihollistensa tahtoon.
3 The Lord will sustain him upon the bed of painful disease: thou changest all his couch in his sickness.
Herra virvoittaa häntä tautivuoteessansa: sinä autat hänen kaikesta hänen sairaudestansa.
4 I said, Lord, be gracious unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
Minä sanoin: Herra, ole minulle armollinen, paranna minun sieluni; sillä minä tein syntiä sinua vastaan.
5 My enemies speak evil of me, When will he die, and his name perish?
Minun viholliseni puhuivat pahaa minua vastaan: koska hän kuollee ja hänen nimensä kadonnee?
6 And if he come to see [me], he speaketh falsely: his heart gathereth wickedness to itself; he goeth abroad [and] speaketh it.
Ja kuin he tulevat katselemaan, niin he puhuvat valhetta: heidän sydämensä kokoo vääryyttä; niin he menevät pois ja sitä panettelevat.
7 Altogether whisper against me all that hate me: against me do they devise my injury.
Kaikki, jotka minua vihaavat, kuiskuttelevat keskenänsä minua vastaan, ja ajattelevat pahaa minua vastaan.
8 “His godless deed [say they] is poured out over him: as he lieth there he will never more rise up again.”
Paha asia on hänen päällensä tullut; ja koska hän makaa, niin ei hän nouse jälleen.
9 Yea, even the man that should have sought my welfare, in whom I trusted, who eateth my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
Niin myös minun ystäväni, johon minä uskalsin, joka sai minun leipääni, se tallasi minun jalkainsa alle.
10 But thou, O Lord, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite it unto them.
Mutta sinä, Herra, ole minulle armollinen ja auta minua, niin minä sen heille kostan.
11 By this do I know that thou art pleased with me, that my enemy doth not triumph over me.
Siitä minä ymmärrän, ettäs suot minulle hyvää, ettei viholliseni saa kerskata minusta.
12 But as for me, thou upholdest me in my integrity, and placest me before thy presence for ever.
Mutta minua sinä holhot viattomuuteni tähden, ja asetat minun kasvois eteen ijankaikkisesti.
13 Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen. BEGIM
