< Psalms 4 >
1 “To the chief musician on Neginoth, a psalm of David.” When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness: amidst distress thou hast [ever] granted me enlargement; be gracious unto me, and hear my prayer.
Unijibu nikuitapo, Mungu wa haki yangu; uniokoe niwapo katika hatari. Unihurumie na usikie maombi yangu.
2 O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be put to shame? [how long] will ye love vanity, will ye seek for lies? (Selah)
Ninyi watu, mpaka lini mtaiabisha heshima yangu? Mpaka lini mtaendelea kupenda kile kisicho stahili na kutafuta uongo?
3 But know that the Lord hath set apart the pious for himself: the Lord will hear when I call on him.
Lakini mjue ya kuwa Yahweh huchagua watu wa kimungu kwa ajili yake. Nitakapo mwita Yahwe atasikia.
4 Tremble, and sin not: commune with your heart upon your bed, and be still (Selah)
Tetemekeni na kuogopa, lakini msitende dhambi! Tafakarini mioyoni mwenu kwenye vitanda vyenu na muwe kimya.
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
Toeni matoleo ya haki na muweke imani yenu katika Yahweh.
6 Many say, “Who will show us happiness? Let shine brightly over us the light of thy countenance, O Lord.”
Wengi husema, “Ni nani atakaye tuonyesha chochote kilicho kizuri?” Yahweh, utuangazie nuru ya uso wako.
7 [But] thou hast placed more joy in my heart than at the time when their corn and their wine were increased.
Umeupa moyo wangu furaha kuu kuliko wao wanapozidishiwa nafaka na divai mpaya.
8 In peace, altogether, will I lay me down and sleep; for thou, Lord, alone, causest me to dwell in safety.
Ni amani kuwa nitajilaza na kusinzia, kwako pekee, Yahweh, nifanye kuwa salama kabisa.
