< Psalms 4 >

1 “To the chief musician on Neginoth, a psalm of David.” When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness: amidst distress thou hast [ever] granted me enlargement; be gracious unto me, and hear my prayer.
Načelniku godbe na strune; psalm Davidov. Ko te kličem, usliši me, Bog pravice moje; v stiski dal si mi prostora; milosten mi bodi in poslušaj molitev mojo.
2 O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be put to shame? [how long] will ye love vanity, will ye seek for lies? (Selah)
Sinovi človeški, doklej bodi slava moja v nečast? ljubili bodete ničnost? hodili za lažjo?
3 But know that the Lord hath set apart the pious for himself: the Lord will hear when I call on him.
Spoznajte vendar, da si je Gospod posebe odbral njega, katerega prijazno sprejema; da bode uslišal Gospod, ko ga bodem zaklical.
4 Tremble, and sin not: commune with your heart upon your bed, and be still (Selah)
Prestrašite se in ne grešite; mislite v srci svojem, na ležišči svojem in mirujte!
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
Darujte daritve pravice, in zaupanje imejte v Gospoda.
6 Many say, “Who will show us happiness? Let shine brightly over us the light of thy countenance, O Lord.”
Mnogi govoré: O da bi vživali dobro! Dvigni nad nas svetlobo obličja svojega, Gospod!
7 [But] thou hast placed more joy in my heart than at the time when their corn and their wine were increased.
Vlij radost v srce moje, večjo nego o času, ko spravljajo žito svoje in vino svoje obilno.
8 In peace, altogether, will I lay me down and sleep; for thou, Lord, alone, causest me to dwell in safety.
V miru ležem in zdajci zaspim; ker ti sam, Gospod, daješ, da prebivam brez skrbi.
