< Psalms 4 >

1 “To the chief musician on Neginoth, a psalm of David.” When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness: amidst distress thou hast [ever] granted me enlargement; be gracious unto me, and hear my prayer.
Kumqondisi wokuhlabela. Ngeziginci. Ihubo likaDavida. Ngiphendula lapho ngikubiza, Oh Nkulunkulu wami olungileyo. Ake ungiphumuze ekuhlulukelweni engikukho; woba lomusa kimi njalo uzwe umkhuleko wami.
2 O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be put to shame? [how long] will ye love vanity, will ye seek for lies? (Selah)
Koze kube nini, we bantu, koze kube nini inkazimulo yami liyenza ihlazo? Koze kube nini lithanda inkohliso njalo lidinga onkulunkulu bamanga?
3 But know that the Lord hath set apart the pious for himself: the Lord will hear when I call on him.
Yazini ukuthi uThixo usezehlukanisele labo abathembekileyo, njalo uThixo uyezwa nxa ngikhala kuye.
4 Tremble, and sin not: commune with your heart upon your bed, and be still (Selah)
Ekuthukutheleni kwenu lingoni; nxa lisemibhedeni yenu hlolani inhliziyo zenu, lithule.
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
Nikelani imihlatshelo eqondileyo, limethembe uThixo.
6 Many say, “Who will show us happiness? Let shine brightly over us the light of thy countenance, O Lord.”
Abanengi bayabuza bathi, “Kuvele ngubani ongasitshengisa ukulunga na?” Sengathi ukukhanya kobuso bakho kungakhazimula phezu kwethu, Oh Thixo.
7 [But] thou hast placed more joy in my heart than at the time when their corn and their wine were increased.
Uyigcwalisile inhliziyo yami ngentokozo enkulu eyedlula ubunengi bamabele abo lewayini labo elitsha.
8 In peace, altogether, will I lay me down and sleep; for thou, Lord, alone, causest me to dwell in safety.
Ngizalala phansi ngijunywe yibuthongo ngilokuthula, ngoba wena wedwa, Oh Thixo, uhlezi ungilondolozile.
