< Psalms 4 >
1 “To the chief musician on Neginoth, a psalm of David.” When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness: amidst distress thou hast [ever] granted me enlargement; be gracious unto me, and hear my prayer.
Zborovođi. Uz žičana glazbala. Psalam. Davidov. Kad zazovem, usliši me, Bože, pravdo moja, ti što me u tjeskobi izbavÄi: smiluj mi se, usliši moju molitvu!
2 O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be put to shame? [how long] will ye love vanity, will ye seek for lies? (Selah)
Sinovi čovječji, dokle će vam srca ostati tvrda? Zašto ispraznost ljubite, opsjenu slijedite?
3 But know that the Lord hath set apart the pious for himself: the Lord will hear when I call on him.
Znajte: Jahve čudesno uzvisuje prijatelja svoga; Gospodin će me uslišiti kad ga zazovem.
4 Tremble, and sin not: commune with your heart upon your bed, and be still (Selah)
Promislite u srcima i ne griješite, dršćite na svojim ležajima i zanijemite.
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
Prinesite žrtve pravedne, u Jahvu se uzdajte!
6 Many say, “Who will show us happiness? Let shine brightly over us the light of thy countenance, O Lord.”
Mnogi govore: “Tko će nam pokazati sreću?” Obasjaj nas, Jahve, svjetlom svoga lica!
7 [But] thou hast placed more joy in my heart than at the time when their corn and their wine were increased.
Više si u srce moje ulio radosti nego kad obilno rode pšenica i vino.
8 In peace, altogether, will I lay me down and sleep; for thou, Lord, alone, causest me to dwell in safety.
Čim legnem, odmah u miru i usnem, jer mi samo ti, o Jahve, daješ miran počinak.
