Psalms 36
1 “To the chief musician, by the servant of the Lord, by David.” Saith vice itself to the wicked—so I feel it within my heart— that he should have no dread of God before his eyes.
Dem Sangmeister. Von dem Knechte Jahwes, von David.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes [too much] to find out his iniquity to hate it.
Wie die Sünde zum Frevler redet, / daran muß ich denken in meinem Herzen. / Es fehlt ihm ja alle Scheu vor Gott.
3 The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, to do good.
Denn sie umgarnt ihn mit Schmeichelreden, / Damit sie erreiche, daß er sich verschulde und hasse.
4 He deviseth wickedness upon his couch; he placeth himself on a way that is not good; evil he despiseth not.
Was er spricht, ist Unheil und Tücke; / Er steht davon ab, verständig zu handeln und gut.
5 O Lord, into the heavens reacheth thy kindness, thy faithfulness even into the skies.
Unheil sinnt er auf seinem Lager, / Betritt einen bösen Weg, / Schlechtes verwirft er nicht.
6 Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; thy acts of justice like the great deep: man and beast dost thou ever help, O Lord.
Jahwe, bis an den Himmel reicht deine Gnade, / Deine Treue bis zu den Wolken.
7 How precious is thy kindness, O God! And the children of men that seek shelter under the shadow of thy wings, —
Deine Gerechtigkeit gleicht Gottes Bergen, / Deine Gerichte der Meerestiefe; / Menschen und Tieren hilfst du, o Jahwe.
8 These will be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and of the stream of thy delights wilt thou give them to drink.
Wie köstlich, Elohim, ist deine Gnade! / Die Menschen dürfen sich bergen in deiner Fittiche Schatten.
9 For with thee is the source of life: in thy light shall we see light.
Sie laben sich an deines Hauses Fülle, / Und mit dem Strom deiner Wonne tränkest du sie.
10 Draw down continuously thy kindness unto those that acknowledge thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
Denn bei dir ist die Quelle des Lebens, / In deinem Lichte schauen wir das Licht.
11 Let not come against me the foot of pride, and let not the hand of the wicked chase me off.
Erhalt deine Gnade denen, die dich erkennen, / Und deine Gerechtigkeit den redlichen Herzen!
12 There are fallen the workers of wickedness: they are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
Nicht treffe mich der Hoffart Fuß, / Und der Frevler Hand verscheuche mich nicht! Dann fallen die Übeltäter, / Sie stürzen und kommen nicht wieder empor.
