Psalms 33
1 Be joyful, O ye righteous, in the Lord; [for] unto the righteous praise is comely.
Veselite se v Gospodu, oh vi pravični, kajti hvala je ljubka iskrenim.
2 Give thanks unto the Lord with the harp: with the ten-stringed psaltery do ye sing [praises] unto him.
Hvalite Gospoda s harfo, prepevajte mu s plunko in glasbilom desetih strun.
3 Sing unto him a new song; play beautifully amidst a triumphant shout.
Prepevajte mu novo pesem, igrajte vešče z glasnim zvokom.
4 For the word of the Lord is upright; and all his works [are done] in truth.
Kajti Gospodova beseda je pravilna in vsa njegova dela so narejena v resnici.
5 He loveth righteousness and justice: the earth is full of the kindness of the Lord.
On ljubi pravičnost in sodbo. Zemlja je polna Gospodove dobrote.
6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
Nebo je bilo narejeno z Gospodovo besedo in vsa njegova vojska z dihom njegovih ust.
7 He gathereth together like heaps the waters of the sea: he layeth up in store-houses the depths [of the sea].
Morske vode zbira skupaj kakor kup, globine shranjuje v skladiščih.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord: of him stand in awe all the inhabitants of the world.
Naj se vsa zemlja boji Gospoda. Naj vsi prebivalci zemeljskega [kroga] stojijo v strahospoštovanju pred njim.
9 For he spoke, and it came into being: he commanded, and it stood fast.
Kajti spregovoril je in bilo je narejeno, zapovedal je in je trdno stalo.
10 The Lord frustrateth the resolves of the nations: he bringeth to nought the thoughts of the people.
Gospod uničuje namere poganov. Načrte ljudstva dela brez učinka.
11 The counsel of the Lord will stand for ever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
Gospodove namere ostanejo večno, misli njegovega srca vsem rodovom.
12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he hath chosen for himself as a heritage.
Blagoslovljen je narod, čigar Bog je Gospod in ljudstvo, ki ga je izbral za svojo lastno dediščino.
13 The Lord looketh from heaven; he seeth all the sons of men.
Gospod gleda z neba, ogleduje vse človeške sinove.
14 From the place of his habitation he directeth his view upon all the inhabitants of the earth;
Iz kraja svojega prebivališča gleda na vse prebivalce zemlje.
15 He fashioneth their hearts altogether; he hath regard to all their works.
Prav tako oblikuje njihova srca, preudarja vsa njihova dela.
16 The king is not saved by the multitude of an army: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
Noben kralj ni rešen z množičnostjo vojske, mogočen človek ni osvobojen z veliko močjo.
17 Vain is the horse for victory: nor shall he deliver any by the greatness of his strength.
Konj je jalova stvar za varnost niti s svojo veliko močjo ne bo nikogar osvobodil.
18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon those that fear him, upon those that hope for his kindness.
Glej, Gospodovo oko je nad temi, ki se ga bojijo, nad temi, ki upajo v njegovo usmiljenje,
19 To deliver from death their soul, and to keep them alive in famine.
da njihovo dušo osvobodi pred smrtjo in da jih v lakoti ohrani žive.
20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: our help and our shield is he.
Naša duša čaka na Gospoda, on je naša pomoč in naš ščit.
21 For in him shall our heart rejoice: because in his holy name have we trusted.
Kajti naše srce se bo veselilo v njem, ker smo zaupali v njegovo sveto ime.
22 Let thy kindness, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in thee.
Naj bo tvoje usmiljenje na nas, oh Gospod, prav tako kakor mi zaupamo vate.
