< Psalms 31 >

1 “To the chief musician, a psalm of David.” In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; Oh that I may never be put to shame: through thy righteousness do thou release me.
Ki he Takimuʻa, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. ‌ʻOku ou falala kiate koe, ʻE Sihova; ʻoua naʻa ke tuku au ke u mā: fakamoʻui au ʻi hoʻo māʻoniʻoni.
2 Bend unto me thy ear; speedily deliver me: be thou unto me as a rock of protection, as a mountain strong-hold to save me.
Fakatokangaʻi ho telinga kiate au; ke vave hoʻo fakamoʻui au: ke ke ʻiate au ko e maka mālohi, ko e fale hūfanga ke fakamoʻui au.
3 For my rock and my stronghold art thou; and for the sake of thy name lead me, and guide me.
He ko koe ko hoku makatuʻu mo ʻeku kolo: ko ia, ko e meʻa ʻi ho huafa ke ke tataki au, ʻo fakahinohino au.
4 Draw me out of the net which they have laid secretly for me; for thou art my protection.
Toho au mei he kupenga kuo nau ʻaʻau fakafufū kiate au: he ko koe ko hoku mālohi.
5 Into thy hand do I commit my spirit: thou redeemest me, O Lord, the God of truth.
‌ʻOku ou tuku atu hoku laumālie ki ho nima: kuo ke huhuʻi au, ʻE Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻoe moʻoni.
6 I hate those that depend on lying vanities; but I trust indeed in the Lord.
Naʻaku fehiʻa kiate kinautolu ʻoku tokanga ki he ngaahi meʻa vaʻinga loi pē: ka ʻoku ou falala kia Sihova.
7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy kindness; because thou hast seen my misery; thou hast taken cognizance of the distresses of my soul;
Te u fiefia mo nekeneka ʻi hoʻo ʻaloʻofa: he kuo ke tokanga ki heʻeku mamahi; kuo ke ʻiloʻi hoku laumālie ʻi he ngaahi mamahi;
8 And thou hast not surrendered me into the hand of the enemy: thou hast caused my feet to stand on an ample space.
Pea naʻe ʻikai te ke tāpuni au ʻi he nima ʻoe fili: kuo ke fokotuʻu hoku vaʻe ʻi he potu ʻataʻatā lahi.
9 Be gracious unto me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is consumed through vexation—my soul [too] and my body.
‌ʻAloʻofa mai kiate au, ʻE Sihova, he ʻoku ou moʻua ʻi he mamahi: kuo ʻauha hoku mata ʻi he tangi, ʻio, ko hoku laumālie mo hoku kete.
10 For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing, my strength faileth because of my iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
He kuo ʻosi ʻeku moʻui ʻi he tangi, mo hoku ngaahi taʻu ʻi he mafulu: kuo fakaʻaʻau ke ʻosi hoku mālohi ko e meʻa ʻi heʻeku hia, pea kuo ʻauha hoku ngaahi hui.
11 Because of all my assailants am I become a reproach, and unto my neighbors greatly so, and a terror to my acquaintance, those that see me abroad flee away from me.
Ko e manukiʻanga au ʻo hoku ngaahi fili kotoa pē, kae ʻāsili pe ki hoku ngaahi kaungāʻapi, pea ko e ilifiaʻanga ʻo hoku kaumeʻa: ko kinautolu naʻe mamata kiate au ʻi tuaʻā naʻa nau hola ʻiate au.
12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of the heart: I am become like a perishable vessel.
Kuo fakangalongaloʻi au mei he loto ʻo hangē ko e tangata kuo mate: kuo u tatau mo e ipu kuo maumau.
13 For I have heard the slandering of many; terror was on every side, while they took counsel together against me: to take away my life did they purpose.
He naʻaku fanongo ki he lauʻikovi ʻe he tokolahi: naʻe ʻi he potu kotoa pē ʻae manavahē: lolotonga ʻenau fakakaukau fakataha kiate au, naʻa nau loto ke toʻo ʻeku moʻui.
14 But I trusted well in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.
Ka naʻaku falala kiate koe, ʻE Sihova: naʻaku pehē, Ko koe ko hoku ʻOtua.
15 In thy hand are my destinies: deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from my persecutors.
Ko hoku ngaahi kuonga ʻoku ʻi ho nima: ke ke fakahaofi au mei he nima ʻo hoku ngaahi fili, pea mo kinautolu ʻoku fakatangaʻi au.
16 Let thy face shine upon thy servant: save me through thy kindness.
Tuku ke ulo mai ho fofonga ki hoʻo tamaioʻeiki: fakamoʻui au koeʻuhi ko hoʻo ʻaloʻofa.
17 O Lord, let me not be put to shame; for I have called on thee: let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent, [passing] to the nether world. (Sheol h7585)
‌ʻOua naʻa ke tuku au ke u mā, ʻe Sihova; he naʻaku ui kiate koe: tuku ke mā ʻae kau angahala, tuku ke nau longo pē ʻi he faʻitoka. (Sheol h7585)
18 Let the lying lips be made dumb, which speak hard things against the righteous, with pride and contempt.
Tuku ke fakalongo pē ʻae ngaahi loungutu loi; ʻaia ʻoku lea ʻaki ʻae meʻa fakamamahi ki he kau māʻoniʻoni ʻi he fielahi mo e manuki.
19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast treasured up for those that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for those that trust in thee before the sons of men!
‌ʻOku fēfē hono lahi ʻo hoʻo angalelei, ʻaia kuo ke hilifaki maʻanautolu ʻoku manavahē kiate koe; ʻaia kuo ke ngaohi maʻanautolu ʻoku falala kiate koe ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ngaahi foha ʻoe tangata!
20 Thou wilt conceal them in the secret of thy presence from the conspiracy of men: thou wilt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
Te ke fufū ʻakinautolu ʻi he potu lilo ʻo ho fofonga mei he fielahi ʻae tangata: te ke tauhi fakafufū pe ʻakinautolu ʻi ha ʻafioʻanga mei he fakakikihi ʻoe ngaahi ʻelelo.
21 Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shown me his kindness wonderfully in a beleaguered city.
Fakafetaʻi kia Sihova: he kuo ne fakahā kiate au ʻene angalelei fakaofo ʻi he kolo mālohi.
22 And yet had I said in my despondency, I am cut off from before thy eyes: nevertheless thou didst hear the voice of my supplications when I cried loudly unto thee.
He naʻaku pehē ʻi heʻeku toʻotoʻo, “kuo motuhi au mei he ʻao ʻo ho fofonga:” ka naʻa ke ongoʻi ʻae leʻo ʻo ʻeku ngaahi lotu tāumaʻu ʻi heʻeku tangi kiate koe.
23 Oh love the Lord, all ye his pious ones: the Lord preserveth the faithful, and recompenses the presumption of him that acteth proudly.
Mou ʻofa kia Sihova, ʻakimoutolu ko ʻene kakai māʻoniʻoni kotoa pē: he ʻoku tauhi ʻe Sihova ʻae kau angatonu, pea ʻoku ne totongi lahi ki he kau fai fakafielahi.
24 Be strong, and let your heart be of good courage, all ye that hope in the Lord.
Ke mou lototoʻa, pea te ne fakamālohi homou loto, ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku ʻamanaki lelei kia Sihova.
