Psalms 22
1 “To the chief musician upon Ayeleth-hashachar, a psalm of David.” My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from saving me, and from the words of my loud complaint?
Au maître de chant. Sur « Biche de l’aurore ». Psaume de David. Mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m’as-tu abandonné? Je gémis, et le salut reste loin de moi!
2 O my God! I call in the day-time, but thou answerest not; and in the night I find no rest.
Mon Dieu, je crie pendant le jour, et tu ne réponds pas; la nuit, et je n’ai point de repos.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that dwellest amidst the praises of Israel.
Pourtant tu es saint, tu habites parmi les hymnes d’Israël.
4 In thee did our fathers trust: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
En toi se sont confiés nos pères; ils se sont confiés, et tu les as délivrés.
5 Unto thee they cried, and were delivered: in thee they trusted, and were not put to shame.
Ils ont crié vers toi, et ils ont été sauvés; ils se sont confiés en toi, et ils n’ont pas été confus.
6 But I am a worm, and not a man, a reproach of men, and despised of people.
Et moi, je suis un ver, et non un homme, l’opprobre des hommes et le rebut du peuple.
7 All those who see me laugh me to scorn: they draw open their lips, they shake their head, [saying, ]
Tous ceux qui me voient se moquent de moi; ils ouvrent les lèvres, ils branlent la tête:
8 “Let him throw himself on the Lord, that he may deliver him: he will save him, for he delighteth in him.”
« Qu’il s’abandonne à Yahweh! Qu’il le sauve, qu’il le délivre, puisqu’il l’aime! »
9 Yea, thou art he that took me from the womb: thou hast been my trust when I hung on my mother's breasts.
Oui, c’est toi qui m’as tiré du sein maternel, qui m’as donné confiance sur les mamelles de ma mère.
10 Upon thee was I cast from my birth: from my mother's womb art thou my God.
Dès ma naissance, je t’ai été abandonné; depuis le sein de ma mère, c’est toi qui es mon Dieu.
11 Oh be not far from me [now]; for distress is near; for there is none to help.
Ne t’éloigne pas de moi, car l’angoisse est proche, car personne ne vient à mon secours.
12 Many steers have encompassed me: the strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
Autour de moi sont de nombreux taureaux, les forts de Basan m’environnent.
13 They have opened wide against me their mouth, [as] a ravenous and roaring lion.
Ils ouvrent contre moi leur gueule, comme un lion qui déchire et rugit.
14 Like water am I poured out, and all my bones are disjointed: my heart is become like wax, it is melted in the midst of my entrails.
Je suis comme de l’eau qui s’écoule, et tous mes os sont disjoints; mon cœur est comme de la cire, il se fond dans mes entrailles.
15 Like a potsherd is my strength dried up; and my tongue cleaveth to my palate; and into the dust of death hast thou laid me down.
Ma force s’est desséchée comme un tesson d’argile, et ma langue s’attache à mon palais; tu me couches dans la poussière de la mort.
16 For dogs have encompassed me; the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: like lions [they threaten] my hands and my feet.
Car des chiens m’environnent, une troupe de scélérats rôdent autour de moi; ils ont percé mes pieds et mes mains,
17 I may number all my bones: [while] they stare and look upon me.
je pourrais compter tous mes os. Eux, ils m’observent, ils me contemplent;
18 They divide my clothes among themselves, and for my garment do they cast lots.
ils se partagent mes vêtements, ils tirent au sort ma tunique.
19 But thou, O Lord, be not far from me: O [thou who art] my strength, hasten to my aid.
Et toi, Yahweh, ne t’éloigne pas! Toi qui es ma force, viens en hâte à mon secours!
20 Deliver from the sword my life, from the power of the dog my solitary soul.
Délivre mon âme de l’épée, ma vie du pouvoir du chien!
21 Save me from the lion's mouth; as thou hast answered me from the horns of the reem.
Sauve-moi de la gueule du lion, tire-moi des cornes du buffle!
22 I will relate thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
Alors j’annoncerai ton nom à mes frères, au milieu de l’assemblée je te louerai:
23 Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and be in dread of him, all ye the seed of Israel.
« Vous qui craignez Yahweh, louez-le! Vous tous, postérité de Jacob, glorifiez-le! Révérez-le, vous tous, postérité d’Israël!
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the poor; neither hath he hidden his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
Car il n’a pas méprisé, il n’a pas rejeté la souffrance de l’affligé, il n’a pas caché sa face devant lui, et quand l’affligé a crié vers lui, il a entendu. »
25 Of thee shall be my praise in a great assembly: my vows will I pay in the presence of those who fear him.
Grâce à toi, mon hymne retentira dans la grande assemblée, j’acquitterai mes vœux en présence de ceux qui te craignent.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied; they who seek him shall praise the Lord: may your heart live for ever.
Les affligés mangeront et se rassasieront; ceux qui cherchent Yahweh le loueront. Que votre cœur revive à jamais!
27 All the ends of the world shall remember and return unto the Lord: and all the families of the nations shall bow themselves down before thee.
Toutes les extrémités de la terre se souviendront et se tourneront vers Yahweh, et toutes les familles des nations se prosterneront devant sa face.
28 For the kingdom is the Lord's, and he governeth the nations.
Car à Yahweh appartient l’empire, il domine sur les nations.
29 All they that eat the fat of the earth shall bow themselves down; before him shall bend the knee all that are going down into the dust; for none can keep alive his own soul.
Les puissants de la terre mangeront et se prosterneront; devant lui s’inclineront tous ceux qui descendent à la poussière, ceux qui ne peuvent prolonger leur vie.
30 Distant ages shall serve him; there shall be related of the Lord unto future generations.
La postérité le servira; on parlera du Seigneur à la génération future.
31 They will come, and will tell his righteousness unto a people yet unborn, that he hath done this.
Ils viendront et ils annonceront sa justice, au peuple qui naîtra, ils diront ce qu’il a fait.
