Psalms 2
1 Wherefore do nations rage, and people meditate a vain thing?
Zakaj besnijo pogani in ljudstvo domišlja prazno stvar?
2 The kings of the earth raise themselves up, and rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed:
Kralji zemlje so se usmerili in vladarji se skupaj posvetujejo zoper Gospoda in zoper njegovega maziljenca, rekoč:
3 “Let us break asunder their bands, and cast away from us their cords.”
»Pretrgajmo njihove vezi in odvrzimo njihove vrvi od sebe.«
4 He who dwelleth in the heavens will laugh: the Lord will hold them in derision.
Tisti, ki sedi v nebesih, se bo smejal. Gospod jih bo imel v posmeh.
5 Then will he speak unto them in his anger, and in his displeasure will he terrify them.
Potem jim bo govoril v svojem besu in jih nadlegoval v svojem bridkem nezadovoljstvu.
6 [Saying, ] Yet have I appointed my king upon Zion my holy mount.

7 I will announce the decree, the Lord hath said unto me, “My son art thou: I have indeed this day begotten thee.
Oznanil bom odlok. Gospod mi je rekel: »Ti si moj Sin. Ta dan sem te rodil.
8 Ask it of me, and I will give thee nations for an inheritance, and for thy possession the uttermost ends of the earth.
Zahtevaj od mene in dal ti bom pogane za tvojo dediščino in najbolj oddaljene kraje zemlje za tvojo posest.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; like a potter's vessel shalt thou dash them in pieces.”
Zdrobil jih boš z železno palico, raztreščil jih boš na koščke kakor lončarjevo posodo.«
10 And now, O ye kings, be wise: take warning, ye judges of the earth.
Zatorej bodite sedaj modri, oh vi kralji. Dajte se poučiti, vi sodniki zemlje.
11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Gospodu služite s strahom in veselite se s trepetanjem.
12 Do homage to the son, lest he be angry, and ye be lost on the way; for his wrath is so speedily kindled. Happy are all they that put their trust in him.
Poljubite Sina, da ne bi bil jezen in ne izginete iz poti, ko je njegov bes le malo razvnet. Blagoslovljeni so vsi, ki svoje upanje položijo vanj.
