Psalms 18
1 “To the chief musician, by the servant of the Lord, by David, who spoke unto the Lord the words of this song on the day that the Lord had delivered him out of the power of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul; And he said,” I ever love thee, O Lord, my strength.
૧મુખ્ય ગવૈયાને માટે. યહોવાહના સેવક દાઉદનું (ગીત). જે દિવસે યહોવાહે તેને તેના સર્વ શત્રુઓના હાથમાંથી તથા શાઉલના હાથમાંથી છોડાવ્યો, તે દિવસે તેણે યહોવાહને આ ગીતનાં વચન કહ્યાં કે, હે યહોવાહ, મારા સામર્થ્ય, હું તમારા પર પ્રેમ કરું છું.
2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
૨યહોવાહ મારા ખડક, મારા કિલ્લા તથા મારા બચાવનાર છે; તે મારા ઈશ્વર, મારા ગઢ; તે પર હું ભરોસો રાખીશ. તે મારું બખ્તર છે, મારા ઉદ્ધારનું શિંગ અને મારો ઊંચો બુરજ છે.
3 Praised, I cried, be the Lord, and from my enemies was I saved.
૩હું યહોવાહને વિનંતિ કરીશ તે સ્તુતિપાત્ર છે અને એમ હું મારા શત્રુઓથી બચી જઈશ.
4 The bonds of death encompassed me, and the floods of destruction made me afraid.
૪મને મૃત્યુનાં બંધનોએ ઘેરી લીધો છે અને દુષ્ટતાનાં મોજાં મારા પર ફરી વળ્યાં છે.
૫શેઓલનાં બંધનોએ મને બધી બાજુએથી ઘેરી લીધો છે; મૃત્યુના પાશ મારા પર આવી પડ્યા છે. (Sheol h7585)
6 [When] in my distress I called upon the Lord, and unto my God I cried: he heard from his temple my voice, and my complaint came before him, even into his ears.
૬મારા સંકટમાં મેં યહોવાહને વિનંતિ કરી; મદદને માટે મેં મારા ઈશ્વરને વિનંતિ કરી. તેમણે પોતાના પવિત્રસ્થાનમાંથી મારો અવાજ સાંભળ્યો; તેમની આગળ મારી અરજ તેમને કાને પહોંચી.
7 Then shook and trembled the earth; and the foundations of the mountains were moved; and they were shaken, because he was wroth.
૭ત્યારે પૃથ્વી હાલી તથા કાંપી; વળી, પર્વતોના પાયા ખસી ગયા અને હાલવા લાગ્યા કેમ કે ઈશ્વર ગુસ્સે થયેલા હતા.
8 Smoke went up in his anger and consuming fire out of his mouth: coals flamed forth from him.
૮તેમનાં નસકોરાંમાંથી ધુમાડો નીકળવા લાગ્યો અને તેમના મુખમાંથી ભસ્મ કરનાર અગ્નિ નીકળવા લાગ્યો. તેથી કોલસા સળગી ઊઠ્યા.
9 And he bent the heavens, and came down: and thick darkness was under his feet:
૯તે આકાશોને નમાવીને નીચે ઊતર્યા અને તેમના પગની નીચે ઘોર અંધકાર હતો.
10 And he rode upon a cherub, and flew along, and he flitted by upon the wings of the wind.
૧૦તે કરુબ પર સવારી કરીને ઊડ્યા; તે પવનની પાંખોની જેમ ઊડ્યા.
11 He made darkness his hiding-place, round about him as his pavilion, dark waters, thick clouds of the skies.
૧૧તેમણે મેઘજળના અંધકારને તથા અંતરિક્ષના ગાઢા વાદળને પોતાનું સંતાવાનું સ્થળ અને પોતાની આસપાસ આચ્છાદન બનાવ્યું.
12 From the brightness before him his thick clouds passed away, [with] hail-stones and coals of fire.
૧૨તેમની સામેના પ્રકાશથી તેમનાં ગાઢ વાદળ જતાં રહ્યાં, કરા તથા અગ્નિના અંગારા વરસ્યા.
13 And the Lord thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered forth his voice, [with] hail-stones and coals of fire.
૧૩યહોવાહે આકાશમાં ગર્જના કરી! પરાત્પરે મોટો અવાજ કાઢ્યો અને કરા તથા વીજળીના ચમકારા થયા.
14 And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot forth lightnings, and discomfited them.
૧૪તેમણે બાણ મારીને તેના શત્રુઓને મારી નાખ્યા; તેમણે વીજળીઓ મોકલીને તેમને થથરાવી નાખ્યા.
15 And then were seen the channels of the waters, and there were laid open the foundations of the world, through thy rebuke, O Lord, through the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
૧૫પછી, હે યહોવાહ, તમારી ધમકીથી, તમારાં નસકોરાંના શ્વાસથી સમુદ્રના તળિયાં દેખાયાં અને ધરતીના પાયા ઉઘાડા થયા.
16 He stretched out from above [his hand], he took me; he drew me out from mighty waters.
૧૬તેમણે હાથ લંબાવી મને પકડી લીધો! તે ઘણા પાણીમાંથી મને બહાર લાવ્યા.
17 He delivered me from my enemy, the strong, and from those that hated me, when they were too mighty for me.
૧૭તેમણે મને મારા બળવાન શત્રુથી અને મારા દ્વેષીઓથી બચાવ્યો, કારણ કે તેઓ મારા કરતાં વધારે જોરાવર હતા.
18 They overcame me on the day of my calamity; but the Lord became my stay.
૧૮મારી વિપત્તિના દિવસોમાં તેઓ મારા પર તૂટી પડ્યા, પણ યહોવાહે મને સ્થિર રાખ્યો.
19 And he brought me forth into a large space; he delivered me, because he had delight in me.
૧૯તેઓ મને ખુલ્લી જગ્યામાં કાઢી લાવ્યા; તેમણે મને બચાવ્યો કેમ કે તે મારા પર પ્રસન્ન હતા.
20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the purity of my hands did he recompense me.
૨૦યહોવાહે મારા ન્યાયીપણાનું ફળ આપ્યું છે; તેમણે મારા હાથની શુદ્ધતા પ્રમાણે મને પાછું વાળી આપ્યું છે.
21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
૨૧કારણ કે હું યહોવાહને માર્ગે ચાલ્યો છું અને દુષ્ટતા કરીને મારા ઈશ્વરથી વિમુખ થયો નથી.
22 For all his ordinances were before me, and his statutes had I not put away from me.
૨૨હું તેમના સર્વ નિયમોને કાળજીપૂર્વક અનુસર્યો છું; મેં તેમના વિધિઓ મારી પાસેથી દૂર કર્યા નહોતા.
23 I was also upright with him, and I guarded myself against my iniquity.
૨૩વળી હું તેમની આગળ નિર્દોષ હતો અને હું અન્યાયથી દૂર રહ્યો.
24 Therefore did the Lord recompense me according to my righteousness, according to the purity of my hands before his eyes.
૨૪યહોવાહે મારું ન્યાયીપણું અને મારા હાથની શુદ્ધતા જોઈને તે પ્રમાણે મને પ્રતિદાન આપ્યું છે.
25 With the kind thou wilt show thyself kind; with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright;
૨૫જેઓ તમારી પ્રત્યે વિશ્વાસુ છે, તેને તમે વિશ્વાસુ છો; જેઓ તમારી સાથે ન્યાયી છે, તેઓની સાથે તમે ન્યાયી દેખાશો.
26 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the perverse thou wilt wage a contest.
૨૬જેઓ શુદ્ધ છે તેઓની સાથે તમે શુદ્ધ છો; પણ જેઓ કપટી છે તેઓને સાથે હઠીલા દેખાશો.
27 For thou wilt indeed save the afflicted people; but haughty eyes wilt thou bring down.
૨૭કેમ કે તમે દુઃખીઓને બચાવો છો, પણ અભિમાની લોકોને અપમાનિત કરો છો.
28 For thou wilt cause my light to shine: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
૨૮કેમ કે તમે મારો દીવો સળગાવશો; યહોવાહ મારા ઈશ્વર મારા અંધકારનો પ્રકાશ કરશે.
29 For [aided] by thee I run through a troop; and [helped] by my God I leap over a wall.
૨૯કેમ કે તમારાથી હું કિલ્લો પણ કૂદી જાઉં છું; મારા ઈશ્વરના કારણે હું કોટ કૂદી જાઉં છું.
30 As for God, —his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a shield to all those that trust in him.
૩૦ઈશ્વરને માટે તેમનો માર્ગ તો સંપૂર્ણ છે. યહોવાહના શબ્દો શુદ્ધ છે! જેઓ તેમના પર ભરોસો રાખે છે તે સર્વની તે ઢાલ છે.
31 For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock beside our God?
૩૧કારણ કે યહોવાહ વિના બીજા ઈશ્વર કોણ છે? અમારા ઈશ્વર વિના બીજો ખડક કોણ છે?
32 He is the God that girdeth me with strength, and rendereth my way unobstructed.
૩૨ઈશ્વર જે મારી કમરે સામર્થ્યરૂપી પટ્ટો બાંધે છે અને મારો માર્ગ સીધો કરે છે.
33 He maketh my feet like those of the hinds, and upon my high-places he causeth me to stand.
૩૩તે મારા પગોને હરણીના જેવા કરે છે અને મારાં ઉચ્ચસ્થાનો પર મને સ્થાપે છે.
34 He teacheth my hands for the war, so that a brazen bow is bent by my arms.
૩૪તે મારા હાથોને લડતાં શીખવે છે અને મારા હાથ પિત્તળનું ધનુષ્ય તાણે છે.
35 And thou gavest me the shield of thy salvation, and thy right hand supported me: and thy meekness hath made me great.
૩૫તમે તમારા ઉદ્ધારની ઢાલ મને આપી છે. તમારા જમણા હાથથી તમે મને ટેકો આપ્યો છે અને તમારી અમીદ્રષ્ટીએ મને મોટો કર્યો છે.
36 Thou enlargest my steps under me, so that my joints do not slip.
૩૬તમે મારા ચાલવાની જગ્યા ખુલ્લી કરી છે, જેથી મારા પગ કદી લપસ્યા નથી.
37 I pursue my enemies, and overtake them; and I return not again till I have made an end of them.
૩૭હું મારા શત્રુઓની પાછળ પડીને તેઓને પકડી પાડીશ; જ્યાં સુધી તેઓનો નાશ નહિ થાય, ત્યાં સુધી હું પાછો ફરીશ નહિ.
38 I crush them that they are not able to rise: they fall under my feet.
૩૮હું તેઓને એવા શરમાવી નાખીશ કે તેઓ ફરી ઊભા થઈ શકશે નહિ; તેઓ મારા પગે પડશે.
39 For thou hast girded me with strength for the war: thou subduest my opponents under me.
૩૯કારણ કે તમે યુદ્ધને માટે મારી કમરે સામર્થ્યરૂપી પટ્ટો બાંધ્યો છે; મારી સામે ચઢાઈ કરનારને તમે મારે તાબે કર્યા છે.
40 And my enemies thou causest to turn their back to me; and those that hate me, —that I may destroy them.
૪૦તમે મારા શત્રુઓની પીઠ મારી તરફ ફેરવી છે કે, જેથી મારા દ્વેષીઓનો નાશ કરું.
41 They cry, but there is none to help; unto the Lord, —but he answereth them not.
૪૧તેઓએ મદદને માટે પોકાર કર્યો, પણ તેઓને બચાવનાર કોઈ નહોતું; તેઓએ યહોવાહને વિનંતી કરી, પણ તેમણે તેઓને કોઈ જવાબ આપ્યો નહિ.
42 And I beat them small as the dust before the wind: like the dirt in the streets do I cast them out.
૪૨પવનથી ફૂંકાતી ધૂળની જેમ તેમને મેં વિખેરી નાખ્યા છે; ગલીઓમાંની ધૂળની જેમ મેં તેમને કચડી નાખ્યા છે.
43 Thou deliverest me from the contests of the people; thou appointest me to be the head of nations: a people that I know not shall serve me.
૪૩તમે મને મારા વિરુદ્ધ લડતાં લોકોથી બચાવો. તમે મને બીજા દેશોનો અધિકારી બનાવો છો. જે લોકોને હું જાણતો નથી તેઓ મારી સેવા કરશે.
44 As soon as their ear heareth they shall be obedient to me: the children of the stranger shall utter flattery unto me.
૪૪જ્યારે તેઓએ મારે વિષે સાંભળ્યું, ત્યારે તેઓ મારે આધીન થયા; વિદેશીઓ મારે શરણે આવ્યા.
45 The children of the stranger shall fade away, and come forth trembling out of their close places.
૪૫વિદેશીઓ હિંમત ગુમાવી બેઠા છે અને ધ્રૂજતા ધ્રૂજતા તેઓ કિલ્લાની બહાર આવ્યા.
46 The Lord liveth, and blessed be my Rock; and exalted be the God of my salvation;
૪૬યહોવાહ જીવતા જાગતા ઈશ્વર છે; મારા રક્ષકની સ્તુતિ હો. મારા ઉદ્ધાર કરનાર ઈશ્વર ઉત્તમ મનાઓ.
47 The God that granteth me vengeance, and subdueth nations under me;
૪૭એટલે જે ઈશ્વર મારું વેર વાળે છે અને લોકોને મારે તાબે કરે છે તેમની સ્તુતિ થાઓ.
48 That delivereth me from my enemies: also above my opponents thou liftest me up; thou deliverest me from the man of violence.
૪૮તે મારા શત્રુઓથી મને છોડાવે છે! હા, મારી સામે ઊઠનારા પર તમે મને વિજય આપો છો! બલાત્કાર કરનાર માણસથી તમે મને બચાવો છો.
49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee among the nations, O Lord, and unto thy name will I sing praises, —
૪૯માટે હે યહોવાહ, વિદેશીઓમાં હું તમારી સ્તુતિ કરીશ; હું તમારા નામનાં સ્તોત્ર ગાઈશ.
50 [To him] that maketh great the salvation of his king, and who sheweth kindness to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for ever.
૫૦તે પોતાના રાજાને વિજય આપે છે અને પોતાના અભિષિક્ત ઉપર, એટલે દાઉદ તથા તેના વંશજો ઉપર, સર્વકાળ કૃપા રાખે છે.
