Psalms 16
1 “A Michtham of David.” Preserve me, O God; for I have placed my trust in thee.
Davidin kultainen kappale. Kätke minua Jumala; sillä minä uskallan sinuun.
2 [O my soul], thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my happiness is not without thee;
Sinä olet Herralle sanonut: sinä olet minun Herrani: minun hyvätyöni ei ole sinun tähtes,
3 [But] in the saints who are on the earth, and in the excellent—in them is all my delight.
Vaan pyhäin tähden, jotka maan päällä ovat, ja kunniallisten tähden, joissa kaikki minun mielisuosioni on.
4 Multiplied shall be the sorrows of those who give presents to another god: I will not pour out their drink-offerings of blood, nor bear their names upon my lips.
Mutta jotka toisen jälkeen rientävät, niillä pitää suuri sydämen kipu oleman: en minä uhraa heidän juomauhriansa verestä, enkä mainitse heidän nimiänsä suussani.
5 Thou, O Lord, art the portion of my inheritance, and my cup; thou hast drawn my lot.
Mutta Herra on minun tavarani ja osani: sinä tähteelle panet minun perimiseni.
6 My possessions are fallen in agreeable places: yea, my heritage is pleasant to me.
Arpa lankesi minulle kauniimmissa: minä olen jalon perimisen saanut.
7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: also in the night seasons my reins admonish me.
Minä kiitän Herraa, joka minua on neuvonut: niin myös minun munaskuuni ovat yöllä kurittaneet.
8 I have always set the Lord before me, that, being at my right hand, I might not be moved.
Minä pidän aina Herran kasvoini edessä, sillä hän on minun oikialla puolellani, sentähden en minä horju.
9 Therefore is rejoiced my heart, and my spirit is glad: also my flesh shall rest in safety.
Sentähden minun sydämeni reimuitsee ja minun kunniani on iloinen, ja minun lihani lepää toivossa.
10 For thou wilt not abandon my soul to the grave: thou wilt not suffer thy pious [servant] to see corruption. (Sheol h7585)
Sillä et sinä hyljää sieluani helvetissä, etkä salli sinun pyhäs näkevän turmelusta. (Sheol h7585)
11 Thou wilt let me know the path of life: fulness of joy is in thy presence; pleasures are at thy right hand for evermore.
Sinä osoitat minulle elämän tien, sinun kasvois edessä on täydellinen ilo, ja riemullinen meno oikialla kädelläs ijankaikkisesti.
