Psalms 140

1 “To the chief musician, a psalm of David.” Deliver me, O Lord, from an evil man; from a man of violence do thou keep me;

സംഗീതസംവിധായകന്. ദാവീദിന്റെ ഒരു സങ്കീർത്തനം. യഹോവേ, അധർമം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവരിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ മോചിപ്പിക്കണമേ; അക്രമികളിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ സംരക്ഷിക്കണമേ,

2 Who think over evil [resolves] in their heart, [who] every day are gathered together for war.

അവർ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ദുഷ്ടതന്ത്രങ്ങൾ ആവിഷ്കരിക്കുകയും നിരന്തരം കലഹം ഇളക്കിവിടുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നു.

3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent: the poison of the adder is under their lips. (Selah)

അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ നാവ് സർപ്പത്തിന്റേതുപോലെ മൂർച്ചയുള്ളതാക്കുന്നു. അവരുടെ അധരങ്ങളിൽ അണലിവിഷമുണ്ട്. (സേലാ)

4 Preserve me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked, from the man of violence do thou keep me, who think of overthrowing my steps.

യഹോവേ, ദുഷ്ടരുടെ കൈകളിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കണമേ; എന്റെ കാലുകൾ കുരുക്കിൽപ്പെടുത്താൻ പദ്ധതിയിടുന്ന അക്രമികളിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ സംരക്ഷിക്കണമേ.

5 The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the side of [my] track; traps have they set for me. (Selah)

അഹങ്കാരികൾ എനിക്കൊരു കെണി ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ ഒരു വല വിരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്റെ പാതയോരത്ത് എനിക്കായി ഒരു കുടുക്ക് ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. (സേലാ)

6 I have said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: give ear, O Lord, to the voice of my supplications.

“അവിടന്ന് ആകുന്നു എന്റെ ദൈവം,” എന്നു ഞാൻ യഹോവയോട് പറഞ്ഞു. യഹോവേ, കരുണയ്ക്കായുള്ള എന്റെ നിലവിളി കേൾക്കണമേ.

7 O thou Eternal Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head on the day of battle.

കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, ശക്തനായ രക്ഷകാ, യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിൽ അങ്ങ് എന്റെ ശിരസ്സിൽ ഒരു കവചം അണിയിക്കുന്നു.

8 Grant not, O Lord, the longings of the wicked; suffer not his wicked device to succeed: lest they exalt themselves. (Selah)

യഹോവേ, ദുഷ്ടരുടെ ആഗ്രഹം സാധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കരുതേ, അവരുടെ ആഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ സഫലമാക്കരുതേ. (സേലാ)

9 [As for] the heads of those that encompass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

എന്നെ വലയംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നവർ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെ അവരുടെ ശിരസ്സുകൾ ഉയർത്തുന്നു; അവരുടെ അധരങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുന്ന തിന്മയാൽത്തന്നെ അവരെ മൂടിക്കളയണമേ.

10 Let burning coals be cast upon them: let them be thrown into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

അവരുടെമേൽ ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന കനലുകൾ പതിക്കട്ടെ; അഗ്നികൂപങ്ങളിലേക്ക് അവർ എറിയപ്പെടട്ടെ, ഒരിക്കലും കരകയറാനാകാത്തവിധം ചേറ്റുകുഴിയിലവർ നിപതിക്കട്ടെ.

11 Let not the man of an [evil] tongue be established on the earth: may evil hunt down the violent man to his downfall.

പരദൂഷണം പറയുന്നവർ ദേശത്ത് പ്രബലപ്പെടാതിരിക്കട്ടെ; അക്രമികളെ ദുരന്തങ്ങൾ വേട്ടയാടി നശിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ.

12 I know that the Lord will procure right for the afflicted, [and] justice for the needy.

യഹോവ പീഡിതർക്ക് ന്യായവും അഗതികൾക്ക് നീതിയും പരിപാലിക്കുമെന്ന് ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു.

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell before thy presence.

നീതിനിഷ്ഠർ അവിടത്തെ നാമത്തെ വാഴ്ത്തുകയും ഹൃദയപരമാർഥികൾ തിരുസന്നിധിയിൽ വസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും, നിശ്ചയം.
