Psalms 124

1 “A song of the degrees by David.” If it had not been the Lord who was for us, so should Israel say;

சீயோன் மலை ஏறும்போது பாடும் தாவீதின் பாடல். யெகோவா நமது பக்கத்தில் இல்லாவிட்டால், இதை இஸ்ரயேலர் சொல்லட்டும்:

2 If it had not been the Lord who was for us, when men rose up against us:

மனிதர் நம்மை தாக்கும்போது யெகோவா தாமே நமது பக்கத்தில் இல்லாவிட்டால்,

3 Then would they have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;

அவர்கள் கோபம் நமக்கு எதிராகப் பற்றியெரிந்தபோது, அவர்கள் நம்மை உயிருடன் விழுங்கியிருப்பார்களே;

4 Then would the waters have overwhelmed us, the stream would have passed over our soul;

வெள்ளம் நம்மை மூழ்கடித்திருக்குமே, நீரோட்டம் நம்மீது புரண்டு ஓடியிருக்குமே,

5 Then would have passed over our soul the presumptuous waters.

பொங்கி வந்த வெள்ளம் நம்மீது பாய்ந்தோடியிருக்குமே.

6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us up as a prey to their teeth.

அவர்கள் நம்மை பற்களால் கிழித்துப்போட இடமளிக்காத யெகோவாவுக்குத் துதி உண்டாகட்டும்.

7 Our soul is escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

வேடனுடைய கண்ணியிலிருந்து தப்பின பறவையைப்போல் நாம் தப்பிப் பிழைத்தோம்; கண்ணி அறுந்தது, நாம் தப்பினோம்.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.

வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் படைத்தவரான யெகோவாவினுடைய பெயரிலே நமக்கு உதவி உண்டு.
