Psalms 124

1 “A song of the degrees by David.” If it had not been the Lord who was for us, so should Israel say;

Wäre nicht Jehovah mit uns, spreche nun Israel,

2 If it had not been the Lord who was for us, when men rose up against us:

Wäre nicht Jehovah mit uns, da der Mensch wider uns aufstand:

3 Then would they have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;

Dann hätten sie lebendig uns verschlungen, als wider uns ihr Zorn entbrannte.

4 Then would the waters have overwhelmed us, the stream would have passed over our soul;

Dann hätten uns die Wasser überflutet; der Bach wäre über unsere Seele hingegangen;

5 Then would have passed over our soul the presumptuous waters.

Dann wären über unsere Seele hingegangen die übermütigen Wasser.

6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us up as a prey to their teeth.

Gesegnet sei Jehovah, Der uns ihren Zähnen nicht zum Zerfleischen gab.

7 Our soul is escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

Unsere Seele ist wie der Vogel, so aus der Vogler Schlinge ist entronnen; die Schlinge riß, und wir sind entronnen.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.

Unser Beistand ist in dem Namen Jehovahs, Der Himmel und Erde gemacht.
