< Psalms 124 >

1 “A song of the degrees by David.” If it had not been the Lord who was for us, so should Israel say;
Sang til Festrejserne. Af David. Havde HERREN ej været med os — saa sige Israel —
2 If it had not been the Lord who was for us, when men rose up against us:
havde HERREN ej været med os, da Mennesker rejste sig mod os,
3 Then would they have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;
saa havde de slugt os levende, da deres Vrede optændtes mod os;
4 Then would the waters have overwhelmed us, the stream would have passed over our soul;
saa havde Vandene overskyllet os, en Strøm var gaaet over vor Sjæl,
5 Then would have passed over our soul the presumptuous waters.
over vor Sjæl var de gaaet, de vilde Vande.
6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us up as a prey to their teeth.
Lovet være HERREN, som ej gav os hen, deres Tænder til Rov!
7 Our soul is escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
Vor Sjæl slap fri som en Fugl af Fuglefængernes Snare, Snaren reves sønder, og vi slap fri.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
Vor Hjælp er HERRENS Navn, Himlens og Jordens Skaber.
