< Psalms 120 >
1 “A song of the degrees.” Unto the Lord, when I was in distress, did I call, and he hath answered me.
canticum graduum ad Dominum cum tribularer clamavi et exaudivit me
2 O Lord, deliver my soul from lips of falsehood, and from a tongue of deceit.
Domine libera animam meam a labiis iniquis a lingua dolosa
3 What will [God] give unto thee? or what will he add unto thee, thou tongue of deceit?
quid detur tibi et quid adponatur tibi ad linguam dolosam
4 Sharpened arrows of the mighty, with coals of the broom-bush.
sagittae potentis acutae cum carbonibus desolatoriis
5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!
heu mihi quia incolatus meus prolongatus est habitavi cum habitationibus Cedar
6 Too long for herself hath my soul dwelt with him that hateth peace.
multum incola fuit anima mea
7 I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
cum his qui oderant pacem eram pacificus cum loquebar illis inpugnabant me gratis
