< Psalms 115 >

1 Not for our sake, O Lord, not for our sake, but unto thy name give glory, for the sake of thy kindness, for the sake of thy truth.
Ikke oss, Herre, ikke oss, men ditt navn gi du ære for din miskunnhets, for din trofasthets skyld!
2 Wherefore should the nations say, Where now is their God?
Hvorfor skal hedningene si: Hvor er nu deres Gud?
3 Whereas our God is in the heavens: whatsoever he desireth hath he done.
Vår Gud er jo i himmelen; han gjør alt det han vil.
4 Their idols are sliver and gold, the work of the hands of man.
Deres avguder er sølv og gull, et verk av menneskehender.
5 A mouth they have, but speak not; eyes they have, but see not;
De har munn, men taler ikke; de har øine, men ser ikke;
6 Ears they have, but hear not; a nose they have, but smell not.
de har ører, men hører ikke; de har nese, men lukter ikke.
7 They have hands, but they touch not; they have feet, but they walk not: nor do they give any utterance by their throat.
Deres hender føler ikke, deres føtter går ikke; de gir ingen lyd med sin strupe.
8 Like them are those that make them, every one that trusteth in them.
Som de selv er, blir de som gjør dem, hver den som setter sin lit til dem.
9 O Israel, trust thou in the Lord—he is their help and their shield.
Israel, sett din lit til Herren! Han er deres hjelp og deres skjold.
10 O house of Aaron, trust ye in the Lord—he is their help and their shield.
Arons hus, sett eders lit til Herren! Han er deres hjelp og deres skjold.
11 Ye that fear the Lord, trust ye in the Lord—he is their help and their shield.
I som frykter Herren, sett eders lit til Herren! Han er deres hjelp og deres skjold.
12 The Lord hath even been mindful of us, he will bless [us]; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron;
Herren kom oss i hu; han skal velsigne, han skal velsigne Israels hus, han skal velsigne Arons hus,
13 He will bless those that fear the Lord, the small together with the great.
han skal velsigne dem som frykter Herren, de små med de store.
14 May the Lord increase you more and more, you and your children.
Herren la eder vokse i tall, eder og eders barn!
15 Blessed are ye of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Velsignet være I av Herren, himmelens og jordens skaper!
16 The heavens are the heavens of the Lord; but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
Himmelen er Herrens himmel, men jorden har han gitt menneskenes barn.
17 Not the dead can praise the Lord, nor all those that go down into the silence [of death].
De døde lover ikke Herren, ingen av dem som farer ned i dødsrikets stillhet;
18 But as for us, we will bless the Lord from this time forth and for evermore. Hallelujah.
men vi skal love Herren fra nu av og inntil evig tid. Halleluja!
