< Psalms 114 >

1 When Israel went forth out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of a strange language:
Israeri akati abuda muIjipiti, imba yaJakobho ichibva kurudzi runo mutauro wokumwe,
2 Judah became his sanctuary, [and] Israel his dominion.
Judha akava imba tsvene yaMwari, Israeri ushe hwake.
3 The sea beheld it, and fled: the Jordan was driven backward.
Gungwa rakazviona rikatiza, Jorodhani rwakadzokera shure;
4 The mountains skipped like wethers, the hills like lambs.
makomo akakwakuka samakondobwe, zvikomo samakwayana.
5 What aileth thee, O sea, that thou fleest? thou, O Jordan, that thou art driven backward?
Haiwa gungwa, wakatizeiko, iwe Jorodhani zvawakadzokera shure,
6 Ye mountains, that ye skip like wethers? ye hills, like lambs?
imi makomo zvamakakwakuka samakondobwe, nemi zvikomo, samakwayana?
7 At the presence of the Lord tremble, O earth, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
Dedera, iwe nyika pamberi paShe, pamberi paMwari waJakobho,
8 Who changeth the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of water.
akashandura dombo rikava dziva, dombo rakaoma rikava matsime emvura.
