Psalms 114

1 When Israel went forth out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of a strange language:

هنگامی که بنی‌اسرائیل از مصر بیرون آمدند، هنگامی که خاندان یعقوب آن سرزمین بیگانه را ترک گفتند،

2 Judah became his sanctuary, [and] Israel his dominion.

یهودا مکان مقدّس خداوند شد و اسرائیل محل سلطنت او.

3 The sea beheld it, and fled: the Jordan was driven backward.

دریای سرخ، چون آمدن بنی‌اسرائیل را دید، از مقابل آنها گریخت و رود اردن به عقب برگشت.

4 The mountains skipped like wethers, the hills like lambs.

کوهها همچون قوچها، و تپه‌ها مانند بره‌ها به جست و خیز درآمدند.

5 What aileth thee, O sea, that thou fleest? thou, O Jordan, that thou art driven backward?

ای دریا، تو را چه شد که گریختی؟ ای رود اردن، چرا به عقب برگشتی؟

6 Ye mountains, that ye skip like wethers? ye hills, like lambs?

ای کوهها و تپه‌ها، چرا مثل قوچها و بره‌ها به جست و خیز درآمدید؟

7 At the presence of the Lord tremble, O earth, at the presence of the God of Jacob;

ای زمین، بلرز! از حضور خداوندی که خدای یعقوب است؛

8 Who changeth the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of water.

کسی که صخره را به دریاچهٔ آب تبدیل می‌کند و از سنگ خارا، چشمهٔ آب جاری می‌سازد.
