< Psalms 114 >

1 When Israel went forth out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of a strange language:
Ekuphumeni kukaIsrayeli eGibhithe, indlu kaJakobe ebantwini bolimi lwezizwe,
2 Judah became his sanctuary, [and] Israel his dominion.
uJuda waba yindlu yakhe engcwele, uIsrayeli waba ngumbuso wakhe.
3 The sea beheld it, and fled: the Jordan was driven backward.
Ulwandle lwakubona lwabaleka, iJordani yabuyela emuva.
4 The mountains skipped like wethers, the hills like lambs.
Intaba zaqolotsha njengezinqama, amaqaqa njengamawundlu.
5 What aileth thee, O sea, that thou fleest? thou, O Jordan, that thou art driven backward?
Ulani wena lwandle, ukuthi ubaleke? Wena Jordani, ukuthi ubuyele emuva?
6 Ye mountains, that ye skip like wethers? ye hills, like lambs?
Lina zintaba, ukuthi liqolotshe njengezinqama? Lina maqaqa, njengamawundlu?
7 At the presence of the Lord tremble, O earth, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
Thuthumela, mhlaba, phambi kweNkosi, phambi kukaNkulunkulu kaJakobe,
8 Who changeth the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of water.
owaphendula idwalalibe lichibi lamanzi, ilitshe elilukhuni libe ngumthombo wamanzi.
