< Psalms 114 >
1 When Israel went forth out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of a strange language:
alleluia in exitu Israhel de Aegypto domus Iacob de populo barbaro
2 Judah became his sanctuary, [and] Israel his dominion.
facta est Iudaea sanctificatio eius Israhel potestas eius
3 The sea beheld it, and fled: the Jordan was driven backward.
mare vidit et fugit Iordanis conversus est retrorsum
4 The mountains skipped like wethers, the hills like lambs.
montes exultaverunt ut arietes colles sicut agni ovium
5 What aileth thee, O sea, that thou fleest? thou, O Jordan, that thou art driven backward?
quid est tibi mare quod fugisti et tu Iordanis quia conversus es retrorsum
6 Ye mountains, that ye skip like wethers? ye hills, like lambs?
montes exultastis sicut arietes et colles sicut agni ovium
7 At the presence of the Lord tremble, O earth, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
a facie Domini mota est terra a facie Dei Iacob
8 Who changeth the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of water.
qui convertit petram in stagna aquarum et rupem in fontes aquarum
