< Psalms 114 >

1 When Israel went forth out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of a strange language:
Halleluja! Da Israel drog fra Ægypten, Jakobs Hus fra det stammende Folk,
2 Judah became his sanctuary, [and] Israel his dominion.
da blev Juda hans Helligdom, Israel blev hans Rige.
3 The sea beheld it, and fled: the Jordan was driven backward.
Havet så det og flyede, Jordan trak sig tilbage,
4 The mountains skipped like wethers, the hills like lambs.
Bjergene sprang som Vædre, Højene hopped som Lam.
5 What aileth thee, O sea, that thou fleest? thou, O Jordan, that thou art driven backward?
Hvad fejler du, Hav, at du flyr, Jordan, hvi går du tilbage,
6 Ye mountains, that ye skip like wethers? ye hills, like lambs?
hvi springer I Bjerge som Vædre, hvi hopper I Høje som Lam?
7 At the presence of the Lord tremble, O earth, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
Skælv, Jord, for HERRENs Åsyn, for Jakobs Guds Åsyn,
8 Who changeth the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of water.
han, som gør Klipper til Vanddrag, til Kildevæld hården Flint!
