Psalms 109
1 “To the chief musician, by David, a psalm.” O God of my praise, do not keep silence.
Dem Musikmeister; von David ein Psalm. Du Gott, dem mein Lobpreis gilt, bleibe nicht stumm!
2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit are opened against me: they have spoken with me with the tongue of falsehood.
Denn Frevlermund und Lügenmaul
3 Also with words of hatred have they encompassed me, and they fight against me without a cause.
mit Worten des Hasses haben sie mich umschwirrt und ohne Ursach’ mich angegriffen;
4 In recompense for my love are they my accusers, while I have nothing but prayer.
für meine Liebe befeinden sie mich, während ich doch (stets für sie) bete;
5 And they impose evil on me in recompense for good, and hatred in lieu of my love.
ja sie haben mir Böses für Gutes vergolten und Haß für meine Liebe erwiesen.
6 Appoint thou a wicked man over him: and let an accuser stand at his right hand.
Bestell’ einen Frevler zum Richter gegen ihn, und ein Ankläger steh’ ihm zur Rechten!
7 When he is to be judged, let him go forth guilty, and let his prayer become sin.
Als schuldig soll er hervorgehn aus dem Gericht und sogar sein Gebet ihm als Sünde gelten!
8 Let his days be few, and let another take his office.
Seiner Lebenstage müssen nur wenige sein, und sein Amt ein andrer empfangen!
9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
Seine Kinder müssen zu Waisen werden und seine Frau eine Witwe!
10 Let his children be continually moving about, and beg, and let them seek [their bread] out of their ruined places.
Seine Kinder müssen unstet umherziehn und betteln und vertrieben werden aus ihres Vaterhauses Trümmern!
11 Let the creditor lay snares after all that he hath, and let strangers plunder his labor.
Sein Gläubiger lege Beschlag auf alles, was er hat, und Fremde müssen seine Habe plündern!
12 Let him have none that extendeth kindness, and let there be none that is gracious to his fatherless children.
Er finde keinen, der ihm Schonung gewährt, und niemand habe Erbarmen mit seinen Waisen!
13 Let his posterity be cut off: in another generation let their name be blotted out.
Sein Nachwuchs müsse der Ausrottung verfallen: schon im zweiten Gliede müsse ihr Name erlöschen!
14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered by the Lord, and let the sin of his mother not be blotted out.
Der Verschuldung seiner Väter werde beim HERRN gedacht, und die Sünde seiner Mutter bleibe ungetilgt!
15 Let them be before the Lord continually, that he may cut off from the earth their memory.
Sie müssen beständig dem HERRN vor Augen stehn, und er tilge ihr Gedächtnis aus von der Erde,
16 For the reason that he remembered not to show kindness; but persecuted the poor and needy man, and the grieved in heart to put him to death.
dieweil er nicht daran dachte, Liebe zu üben, vielmehr den Elenden und Armen verfolgte und den hoffnungslos Verzagten, ihn vollends zu töten.
17 As he loved cursing, so let it come over him: and as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
Er liebte den Fluch: so treffe er ihn! Er hatte am Segen keine Freude: so bleib’ er ihm fern!
18 And he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, and it cometh like water within him, and like oil into his bones.
Er zog den Fluch an wie sein Kleid: so dringe er ihm in den Leib wie Wasser und wie Öl in seine Gebeine;
19 Let it be unto him as a garment in which he wrappeth himself, and for a girdle let him be continually girded with it.
er werde ihm wie der Mantel, in den er sich hüllt, wie der Gürtel, den er sich ständig umlegt!
20 Let this be the reward of my accusers from the Lord, and of those that speak evil against my soul.
Dies sei meiner Widersacher Lohn von seiten des HERRN und derer, die Böses gegen mich reden!
21 But thou, O Eternal Lord, deal with me for the sake of thy name: because thy kindness is good, deliver thou me.
Du aber, HERR, mein Gott, tritt für mich ein um deines Namens willen! Weil deine Gnade köstlich ist, errette mich!
22 For poor and needy am I, and my heart is deeply wounded within me.
Denn elend bin ich und arm, und mein Herz ist verwundet in meiner Brust.
23 Like the shadow when it declineth do I hasten away: I am driven suddenly off like the locusts.
Wie ein Schatten, wenn er sich dehnt, so schwinde ich hin, bin vom Sturm verweht einer Heuschrecke gleich;
24 My knees stumble through fasting, and my flesh faileth of fatness.
meine Knie wanken vom Fasten, mein Leib ist abgemagert, ohne Fett;
25 And I am become a reproach unto them: when they see me, they shake their head.
und ich – den Leuten bin ich zum Hohn geworden: sehen sie mich, so schütteln sie höhnend den Kopf.
26 Help me, O Lord my God: O save me according to thy kindness:
Stehe mir bei, o HERR, mein Gott, hilf mir nach deiner Gnade!
27 That they may know that this is thy hand: that thou, Lord, hast truly done it.
Laß sie erkennen, daß dies deine Hand ist, daß du, HERR, selbst es so gefügt hast!
28 Let them then curse, but do thou bless: when they arise, let them be made ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.
Sie mögen fluchen, du aber wollest segnen; erheben sie sich, so laß sie zuschanden werden, dein Knecht aber müsse sich freuen!
29 Let my accusers be clothed with confusion, and let them wrap themselves, as with a mantle, in their own shame.
Laß meine Widersacher in Schmach sich kleiden und ihre Schande umtun wie einen Mantel!
30 I will thank the Lord greatly with my mouth, and in the midst of many will I praise him.
Laut soll mein Mund dem HERRN Dank sagen, und inmitten vieler will ich ihn preisen;
31 For he ever standeth at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those that judge his soul.
denn er steht dem Armen zur Rechten, um ihn zu retten vor denen, die ihn schuldig sprechen.
