Psalms 109
1 “To the chief musician, by David, a psalm.” O God of my praise, do not keep silence.
Au maître-chantre. Psaume de David.
2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit are opened against me: they have spoken with me with the tongue of falsehood.
O Dieu de ma louange, ne te tais point! Car la bouche du méchant et la bouche du perfide se sont ouvertes contre moi; ils me parlent avec une langue menteuse.
3 Also with words of hatred have they encompassed me, and they fight against me without a cause.
Ils m'environnent de paroles de haine; ils me font la guerre sans cause.
4 In recompense for my love are they my accusers, while I have nothing but prayer.
En retour de mon amour, ils se font mes adversaires; moi, je ne fais que prier.
5 And they impose evil on me in recompense for good, and hatred in lieu of my love.
Ils m'ont rendu le mal pour le bien, et la haine pour mon amour.
6 Appoint thou a wicked man over him: and let an accuser stand at his right hand.
Établis sur lui un méchant, et qu'un adversaire se tienne à sa droite!
7 When he is to be judged, let him go forth guilty, and let his prayer become sin.
Quand on le jugera, qu'il soit déclaré coupable, et que sa prière lui soit imputée à péché!
8 Let his days be few, and let another take his office.
Que ses jours soient peu nombreux; qu'un autre prenne sa charge!
9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
Que ses fils soient orphelins, et sa femme veuve!
10 Let his children be continually moving about, and beg, and let them seek [their bread] out of their ruined places.
Que ses fils soient errants et mendiants; qu'ils aillent quêter loin de leurs masures!
11 Let the creditor lay snares after all that he hath, and let strangers plunder his labor.
Que le créancier jette le filet sur ce qu'il a; que les étrangers pillent son travail!
12 Let him have none that extendeth kindness, and let there be none that is gracious to his fatherless children.
Qu'il n'y ait personne qui lui continue sa bonté; que nul n'ait pitié de ses orphelins!
13 Let his posterity be cut off: in another generation let their name be blotted out.
Que sa postérité soit retranchée; que dans la génération à venir leur nom soit effacé!
14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered by the Lord, and let the sin of his mother not be blotted out.
Que l'iniquité de ses pères revienne en mémoire devant l'Éternel, et que le péché de sa mère ne soit point effacé;
15 Let them be before the Lord continually, that he may cut off from the earth their memory.
Qu'ils soient toujours devant l'Éternel, et qu'il retranche leur mémoire de la terre;
16 For the reason that he remembered not to show kindness; but persecuted the poor and needy man, and the grieved in heart to put him to death.
Parce qu'il ne s'est pas souvenu d'user de bonté, qu'il a persécuté l'affligé, le pauvre, l'homme au cœur brisé, pour le faire mourir!
17 As he loved cursing, so let it come over him: and as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
Il a aimé la malédiction, elle viendra sur lui; il n'a point pris plaisir à la bénédiction, elle s'éloignera de lui.
18 And he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, and it cometh like water within him, and like oil into his bones.
Il sera enveloppé de malédiction comme d'un manteau; elle pénétrera dans son corps comme de l'eau, et dans ses os comme de l'huile.
19 Let it be unto him as a garment in which he wrappeth himself, and for a girdle let him be continually girded with it.
Elle sera comme l'habit dont il se couvre, comme la ceinture dont il est toujours ceint.
20 Let this be the reward of my accusers from the Lord, and of those that speak evil against my soul.
Tel sera, de la part de l'Éternel, le salaire de mes adversaires, et de ceux qui disent du mal contre moi.
21 But thou, O Eternal Lord, deal with me for the sake of thy name: because thy kindness is good, deliver thou me.
Mais toi, Éternel mon Dieu, agis en ma faveur, à cause de ton nom; selon la grandeur de ta bonté, délivre-moi!
22 For poor and needy am I, and my heart is deeply wounded within me.
Car je suis affligé et misérable, et mon cœur est blessé au-dedans de moi.
23 Like the shadow when it declineth do I hasten away: I am driven suddenly off like the locusts.
Je m'en vais comme l'ombre quand elle décline; je suis chassé comme la sauterelle.
24 My knees stumble through fasting, and my flesh faileth of fatness.
Mes genoux chancellent par le jeûne; ma chair a perdu son embonpoint.
25 And I am become a reproach unto them: when they see me, they shake their head.
Je suis pour eux un sujet d'opprobre; en me voyant, ils hochent la tête.
26 Help me, O Lord my God: O save me according to thy kindness:
Sois-moi en aide, Éternel mon Dieu!
27 That they may know that this is thy hand: that thou, Lord, hast truly done it.
Sauve-moi selon ta bonté, afin qu'ils sachent que c'est ta main, que c'est toi, Éternel, qui l'as fait.
28 Let them then curse, but do thou bless: when they arise, let them be made ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.
Ils maudiront, toi tu béniras; ils s'élèvent, mais ils rougiront, et ton serviteur se réjouira.
29 Let my accusers be clothed with confusion, and let them wrap themselves, as with a mantle, in their own shame.
Que mes adversaires soient revêtus de confusion, et couverts de leur honte comme d'un manteau!
30 I will thank the Lord greatly with my mouth, and in the midst of many will I praise him.
Ma bouche louera hautement l'Éternel; je le célébrerai au milieu de la multitude.
31 For he ever standeth at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those that judge his soul.
Car il se tient à la droite du pauvre, pour le sauver de ceux qui condamnent son âme.
