< Psalms 107 >
1 BOOK FIFTH: Oh give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for unto eternity endureth his kindness.
“Mou ʻatu ʻae fakafetaʻi kia Sihova, he ʻoku angalelei ia: koeʻuhi ʻoku tolonga ʻo taʻengata ʻa ʻene ʻaloʻofa.”
2 Thus let the Lord's redeemed say, even those whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the adversary;
Ke lea pehē ʻe he kakai kuo huhuʻi ʻe Sihova, ʻakinautolu kuo ne huhuʻi mei he nima ʻoe fili;
3 And whom he hath gathered out of the [various] lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the sea.
Pea tānaki ʻakinautolu mei he ngaahi fonua, mei he potu hahake, pea mei he potu lulunga, mei he potu tokelau, pea mei he feituʻu tonga.
4 They wandered about in the wilderness, in the desert path; they could not find an inhabited city:
Naʻa nau ʻalu fano pē ʻi he toafa ʻi he hala liʻaki; naʻe ʻikai tenau ʻilo ha kolo ke nofo ai.
5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul within them fainted.
Pea ʻi he fiekaia mo e fieinua, naʻe pongia ai honau laumālie ʻiate kinautolu.
6 Then they cried unto the Lord when they were in distress, [and] out of their afflictions he delivered them.
Pea naʻa nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ne ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
7 And he led them forth on the right way, that they might go to an inhabited city.
Pea naʻa ne tataki atu ʻakinautolu ʻi he hala totonu, koeʻuhi kenau hoko ki he kolo naʻe kakai.
8 They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
9 For he satisfied the longing soul, and the hungry soul he filled with good.—
He ʻoku ne fakamākona ʻae laumālie ʻoku holi, mo ne fakapito ʻaki ʻae lelei ʻae laumālie ʻoku fiekaia.
10 Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in misery and [fetters of] iron; —
Ko kinautolu ʻoku nofo ʻi he fakapoʻuli pea mo e ʻata ʻae mate, kuo haʻi ʻaki ʻae mamahi mo e ukamea;
11 Because they have rebelled against the words of God, and have contemned the counsel of the Most High;
Koeʻuhi naʻa nau angatuʻu ki he ngaahi folofola ʻae ʻOtua, mo nau fehiʻa ki he akonaki ʻae fungani Māʻolunga:
12 And he humbled with trouble their heart; they stumbled, and there was none to help;
Ko ia naʻa ne fakavaivaiʻi honau loto ʻi he ngāue; naʻa nau tō ki lalo, pea naʻe ʻikai ha taha ke tokoni.
13 But when they cry unto the Lord when they are in distress, he saveth them out of their afflictions;
Pea naʻa nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
14 He bringeth them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and teareth their bands asunder.
Naʻa ne ʻomi ʻakinautolu mei he fakapoʻuli mo e ʻata ʻoe mate, ʻo ne motuhi honau ngaahi haʻi.
15 They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
16 For he hath broken the doors of copper, and the bolts of iron hath he hewn asunder.—
He kuo ne maumauʻi ʻae ngaahi matapā palasa, pea ne tutuʻu ʻae ngaahi ukamea fakamaʻu.
17 Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
ʻOku mamahi ʻae kau vale koeʻuhi ko ʻenau talangataʻa, pea mo ʻenau ngaahi hia.
18 All manner of food their soul abhorreth; and they draw near unto the gates of death;
ʻOku fehiʻa honau laumālie ki he meʻakai kotoa pē; pea ʻoku nau fakaʻaʻau ki he ngaahi matapā ʻoe mate.
19 But when they cry unto the Lord when they are in distress, he saveth them out of their afflictions.
Pea ʻoku nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ʻoku ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
20 He sendeth his word and healeth them, and delivereth them from their graves.
Naʻa ne fekau ʻene folofola, pea ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu, mo ne fakahaofi ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi meʻa fakaʻauha.
21 They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
22 They shall also sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and relate his deeds with joyful song.—
Pea tuku kenau feilaulau ʻaki ʻae ngaahi feilaulau ʻoe fakafetaʻi, mo fakahā ʻene ngaahi ngāue ʻi he fiefia.
23 They who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters; —
Ko kinautolu ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he tahi ʻi he ngaahi vaka, mo fai ʻae ngāue ʻi he ngaahi vai lahi;
24 These have seen the works of the Lord, and his wonders on the deep.
ʻOku nau mamata ki he ngaahi ngāue ʻa Sihova, mo ʻene ngaahi meʻa fakaofo ʻi he moana.
25 For he spoke, and he raised the stormy wind, which lifteth up its waves.
He ʻoku fekau ʻe ia, pea ʻoku fakatupu ʻae matangi mālohi, ʻaia ʻoku tupu hake ai hono ngaahi peau.
26 They would mount up to heaven, they would go down to the depths: their soul was melted because of their danger.
ʻOku nau ʻalu hake ki he langi, ʻoku nau toe ʻalu hifo ki he ngaahi loloto: kuo vela ʻo vai honau laumālie koeʻuhi ko e mamahi.
27 They would reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and all their wisdom was exhausted.
ʻOku nau tasipa, pea luelue ʻo hangē ko e tangata konā, pea kuo mole honau poto kotoa pē.
28 And they cried unto the Lord when they were in distress, and he brought them out of their afflictions.
ʻOku nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ʻoku ne ʻomi ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
29 He calmed the storm into a whisper, and stilled were the waves of the sea.
ʻOku ne ngaohi ʻae afā ke tofukī, ko ia ʻoku ʻikai ngaue ai hono peau.
30 And they were rejoiced because they were silent: and then he guided them unto their desired haven.
Pea ʻoku nau toki fiefia koeʻuhi ʻoku nau fiemālie ai; pea ʻoku ne ʻomi ʻakinautolu ki he taulanga kuo nau holi ki ai.
31 They [therefore] shall give thanks unto the Lord for his kindness, and [proclaim] his wonders to the children of men!
Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
32 And they must exalt him in the congregation of the people, and in the assembly of the elders must they praise him.—
Tuku kenau fakahikihiki ʻa ʻene ʻafio ʻi he fakataha ʻoe kakai, mo fakamālō
33 He changeth rivers into a wilderness, and water-springs into parched ground;
ʻOku liliu ʻe ia ʻae ngaahi vaitafe ko e toafa, mo e ngaahi matavai ko e kelekele mōmoa;
34 A fruitful land into a salty waste, for the wickedness of those that dwell therein.
Mo e fonua mahu ko e hongea, koeʻuhi ko e angakovi ʻae kakai ʻoku nofo ai.
35 He changeth the wilderness into a pool of water, and desert land into water-springs.
ʻOku ne liliu ʻae toafa ko e ano vai, mo e fonua mōmoa ko e ngaahi matavai.
36 And there he causeth to dwell the hungry, that they may found an inhabited city;
Pea ʻoku ne pule ke nofo ai ʻae fiekaia, koeʻuhi kenau teuteu ʻae kolo ke nofo ai;
37 And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, that they may yield the fruits of the [annual] product.
Mo tūtuuʻi ʻae ngaahi ngoue, pea tō ʻae ngaahi ngoue vaine, ʻaia ʻoku faʻa ʻomi ʻae ngaahi fua kuo tupu.
38 He also blesseth them, and they multiply greatly, and he suffereth not their cattle to diminish.
ʻOku ne fakamonūʻia foki ʻakinautolu, ko ia kuo nau tupu ʻo tokolahi ʻaupito; pea ʻoku ʻikai te ne tuku ke fakaʻaʻau ke siʻi ʻenau fanga manu.
39 They were also diminished and bowed low through oppression, misfortune, and sorrow:
Pea ʻoku toe fakaʻaʻau ke tokosiʻi mo vaivai ʻakinautolu ʻi he fakamālohi, mo e mahaki, mo e mamahi.
40 He [then] poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in a pathless wilderness.
ʻOku ne lilingi ʻae manuki ki he ngaahi ʻeiki, pea ʻoku ne pule kenau ʻalu fano ʻi he toafa, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai ha hala ʻi ai.
41 And he exalteth the needy from misery, and maketh [his] families like flocks.
Ka ʻoku ne hiki hake ʻae masiva mei he mamahi, pea ʻoku ne ngaohi maʻana ʻae ngaahi kāinga ʻo hangē ko e fanga sipi.
42 The righteous shall see it, and rejoice; but all wickedness shall stop her mouth.
ʻE mamata ki ai ʻae angatonu, pea fiefia; pea ʻe tāpuni ʻe he angahala kotoa pē hono ngutu.
43 Whoever is wise, let him observe these things, and let [all] understand the kindness of the Lord.
Ko hai ʻoku poto, pea tokanga ki he ngaahi meʻa ni, tenau ʻiloʻi ʻae ʻaloʻofa ongongofua ʻa Sihova.
