< Psalms 10 >

1 Wherefore, O Lord, standest thou afar off? hidest thyself in times of distress?
Ko e hā ʻoku ke fakamamaʻo ai, ʻE Sihova? Ko e hā ʻoku ke fakafufū ai koe ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ʻoe mamahi?
2 In the pride of the wicked doth he hotly pursue the poor: they are seized through the plans that those have devised.
‌ʻI he fielahi ʻae angakovi ʻoku ne fakatangaʻi ʻae masiva: tuku ke moʻua ʻakinautolu ʻi he ngaahi filioʻi ʻaia kuo nau fakakaukau ki ai.
3 For the wicked boasteth of the longing of his soul, and the robber blesseth himself when he hath despised the Lord.
He ʻoku polepole ʻae angahala ʻi he holi ʻa hono loto, ʻo ne fakamālō ki he manumanu ʻaia ʻoku fehiʻa ki ai ʻa Sihova.
4 The wicked, according to the pride of his wrathfulness, [saith, ] He will not require, There is no God [in] all his plans.
Ko e angahala, ʻi he fielahi ʻa hono mata, ʻe ʻikai te ne kumi [ki he ʻOtua]: ʻoku ʻikai kau ki he ʻOtua ʻene ngaahi mahalo kotoa pē.
5 Prosperous are his ways at all times; far in the height [remain] thy punishments away from him: all his assailants—he puffeth at them.
‌ʻOku fakamamahi maʻuaipē hono ngaahi ʻaluʻanga; ʻoku māʻolunga lahi hake hoʻo ngaahi fakamaau ʻo ʻulia ʻiate ia: pea ʻoku ne ifi atu ki hono ngaahi fili kotoa pē.
6 He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved; I shall be for many generations, and without adversity.
Kuo pehē ʻe ia ʻi hono loto, “ʻE ʻikai te u ngaue: koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te u ʻi he mamahi mei he toʻutangata ki he toʻutangata.”
7 Of the false oaths is his mouth full, and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.
‌ʻOku fonu hono ngutu ʻi he kape, mo e kākā, mo e loi: ʻoku ʻi hono lalo ʻelelo ʻae pauʻu, mo e kovi.
8 He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes search for the unfortunate.
‌ʻOku nofo ia ʻi he ngaahi toitoiʻanga ʻoe ngaahi potu kakai: ʻoku fakapoongi ʻe ia ʻae māʻoniʻoni ʻi he ngaahi potu fakalilolilo: ʻoku siosio pau hono mata ʻi he fufū ki he masiva.
9 He lieth in wait in a secret place like a lion in his den; he lieth in wait to snatch up the poor: he snatcheth up the poor, as they draweth him into his net.
‌ʻOku tokoto tatali pe ia ʻi he potu lilo, ʻo hangē ko e laione ʻi hono ʻana: ʻoku tali tokoto ia ke ne pō ʻae masiva: ʻoku ne pō ʻae masiva, ʻi heʻene fakatauveleʻi ia ki heʻene hele.
10 He croucheth, he bendeth himself, and the unfortunate fall through his might.
‌ʻOku ne tulolo ʻo fakavaivai ia, koeʻuhi ke hinga ai ʻae masiva ʻi heʻene mālohi.
11 He saith in his heart, God hath forgotten; he hath hidden his face; he will never see it.
Naʻe pehē ʻe ia ʻi hono loto, “Kuo ngalo ʻi he ʻOtua: ʻoku fufū ʻe ia hono fofonga ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito te ne mamata ki ai.”
12 Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up thy hand: forget not the afflicted.
Tuʻu hake, ʻE Sihova; ʻE ʻOtua, hiki hake ho nima: ʻoua naʻa fakangalongaloʻi ʻae angavaivai.
13 For what doth the wicked despise God? [why] doth he say in his heart, Thou wilt not require it?
Ko e hā ʻoku manuki ai ʻe he angakovi ki he ʻOtua? Naʻe pehē ʻe ia ʻi hono loto, “ʻE ʻikai te ke ʻeke ki ai.”
14 Thou hast seen it: for thou beholdest mischief and despiteful acts, to requite it with thy hand: unto thee the unfortunate committeth himself; unto the fatherless hast thou [ever] been a helper.
Kuo ke ʻafioʻi ia; he ʻoku ke ʻafioʻi ʻae pauʻu mo e fakafāsifasi, ke totongi ia ʻaki ho nima: ʻoku tuku ia kiate koe ʻe he masiva; ko koe ko e tokoni ʻoe tamai mate.
15 Break thou the arm of the wicked; and of the bad man—thou wilt inquire for his wickedness [till] thou find none.
Fesiʻi ʻe koe ʻae nima ʻoe tangata angahala mo angakovi: kumi ʻene ngaahi kovi kotoa pē ke ʻoua ke ʻosi.
16 The Lord is King for ever and ever: nations are perished out of his land.
Ko e Tuʻi ʻa Sihova, ʻo taʻengata pea taʻengata: kuo ʻauha ʻae hiteni mei hono fonua.
17 The longing of the afflicted dost thou hear, O Lord! thou wilt strengthen their heart, thou wilt cause thy ear to listen:
‌ʻE Sihova, kuo ke ongoʻi ʻae holi ʻae angavaivai: pea te ke teuʻi honau loto, te ke ʻange ho fofonga ke ʻafioʻi:
18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that not farther more shall be arrogant the mortal from the earth.
Ke fakamaau ʻae ngaahi tamai mate mo e kakai kuo taʻomia, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa toe fakailifiaʻi ʻe he tangata ʻoe fonua.
