< Proverbs 8 >

1 Behold, wisdom calleth, and understanding sendeth forth her voice,
Palunghahaih mah kami to kawk ai maw? Panoekhaih mah doeh tha hoi lokthui ai maw?
2 On the top of high places, by the wayside, at the house where there are [many] paths doth she place herself.
Anih loe hmuensang hoi lamkrung taengah angdoet.
3 Alongside of gates, at the opening of the city, at the entrance of the town[-doors] doth she call loudly,
Anih loe vangpui thung akunhaih khongkha taeng, thoknawk taengah angdoet moe, tha hoi a hangh.
4 Unto you, O men, I call, and my voice [goeth forth] to the sons of men,
Aw kahing kaminawk, kang kawk o; kaminawk hanah lok ka thuih pae.
5 Learn, O ye simple, to understand prudence: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
Aw poekhaih tawn ai kami rumramnawk, palunghahaih to panoek oh; Aw amthu kaminawk, panoekhaih palungthin to tawn oh.
6 Hear! for of noble things will I speak; and the opening of my lips shall be of what is equitable.
Tahngai oh, hmuen kahoih kang thuih o han; toenghaih lok to kang thuih o han.
7 For truth uttereth my palate ever, and the abomination of my lips is wickedness.
Ka pakha mah loktang lok to thui ueloe, ka pahni mah sethaih to panuet tih.
8 In righteousness are all the sayings of my mouth, there is in them nothing crooked or perverse.
Ka pakha pong ih loknawk boih loe toeng, angkawnh moe, amsoem ai lok maeto doeh om ai.
9 They are all evident to the man of understanding, and correct to those that have obtained knowledge.
Thaikop kami hanah loe hmuennawk boih to zoi, palunghahaih pakrong kami han loe toenghaih ah oh.
10 Accept my correction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
Sumkanglung pongah loe ka thuitaekhaih hae talawk ah loe, sui pongah loe palunghahaih to qoi ah.
11 For wisdom is better than pearls; and all the things that men wish for are not equal to her.
Atho kana thlung kathim pongah loe palunghahaih to hoih kue, to loe koeh ih hmuennawk boih hoiah patah thai ai.
12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and the knowledge of discreet thoughts do I discover.
Ka palunghahaih loe acoehaih hoiah amraep pongah, palunghahaih hoi panoekhaih to ohsak.
13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogance, and the evil way: and the mouth of perverseness do I hate.
Kahoih ai hmuen zithaih loe, Angraeng zithaih ah oh; amoekhaih, poeksanghaih, sethaih loklam hoi lok kangkoiah thuihaih to ka hnukma.
14 Mine are counsel and sound wisdom: I am understanding; mine is might.
Poek kahoih paekhaih hoi palunghahaih loe kai ih ni; kai loe panoekhaih hoi sakthaihaih tha to ka tawnh.
15 Through me do kings reign, and chieftains give decrees [in] righteousness.
Siangpahrangnawk loe kai rang hoiah ni angraeng tangkhang nuiah anghnut o moe, katoeng patukhaih to angraengnawk mah pazui o.
16 Through me do princes rule, and the nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
Kai rang hoiah angraeng capanawk, angraengnawk hoi lokcaekkungnawk mah, long kaminawk to uk o.
17 I indeed love those that love me: and those that seek me earnestly shall find me.
Kai palung kaminawk to ka palung, palung tang hoi kai pakrong kaminawk mah loe kai to ang hnuk o.
18 Riches and honor are with me, yea, enduring wealth and righteousness.
Angraenghaih hoi pakoehhaih loe kai khaeah oh; ue, atue kasawkah kakaan angraenghaih hoi toenghaih doeh oh.
19 My fruit is better than gold, and than fine gold; and my products, than choice silver.
Kai ih athaih loe sui pongah hoih kue; ue, kaciim suitui pongah doeh hoih kue; kai khae hoi hakih hmuen loe, qoih het ih sumkanglung pongah doeh hoih kue.
20 On the road of righteousness do I walk firmly, in the midst the paths of justice:
Kai loe toenghaih hoi katoeng lokcaekhaih loklam um li ah ka caeh pongah,
21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit a lasting possession; and their treasures will I fill
kai palung kaminawk khaeah qawktoephaih to ka paek, nihcae hmuen patunghaih ahmuen to ka koisak han.
22 The Lord created me as the beginning of his way, the first of his works from the commencement,
Kai loe canghnii ih hmuennawk sah ai nathuem, a tok sak amtong tangsuek na hoi boeh ni Angraeng ih hmuen ah ka oh.
23 From eternity was I appointed chief, from the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.
Kai loe long om ai vop, long oh amtong tangsuek nathuem hoiah dungzan ah ang caksak boeh.
24 When there were yet no depths, was I brought forth; when there were yet no springs laden heavily with water.
Tuipuinawk om o ai vop, vapui tui doeh long ai naah, kai hae ang tapen boeh.
25 Before the mountains were yet sunk down, before the hills was I brought forth:
Maenawk om ai vop, maesomnawk doeh om ai naah, kai hae ang tapen boeh;
26 While as yet he had not made the land and open fields, nor the chief of the dust of the world.
long hoi tawnawk to sah ai vop, long nui ih maiphu doeh sah ai naah, kai hae ang tapen boeh.
27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there; when he drew a circle over the face of the deep;
Vannawk to sak moe, tuipuinawk hmaa ah kaom hmuennawk to a sak nathuem,
28 When he fastened the skies above; when the springs of the deep became strong;
van ranui ih tamainawk to a sak moe, tuipui thung ih tuinawk to thacaksak nathuem;
29 When he assigned to the sea his decree, that the waters should not transgress his order: when he established firmly the foundations of the earth:
a paek ih lok to tui mah poeng thai han ai ah, long angdoethaih ahmuen a sak naah kai ka oh boeh:
30 Then was I near him, as a nursling: and I was day by day [his] delights, playing before him at all times;
to naah kai loe anih hoi nawnto qoeng tahang capa baktiah, anih taengah ka oh; ni thokkruek anih anghoehaih ah ka oh; a hmaa ah anghoehaih hoiah ka koi poe;
31 Playing in the world, his earth; and having my delights with the sons of men.
a sak ih long nuiah anghoehaih ka tawnh moe, kami capanawk nuiah doeh oephaih ka tawnh.
32 And now, O children [of men], hearken unto me! for happy those that observe my ways.
To pongah Aw ka caanawk, ka lok hae tahngai oh; kai ih loklam pazui kaminawk loe tahamhoih o.
33 Hear correction, and be wise, and reject it not.
Kang thuitaekhaih lok to tahngai oh, pahnawt o hmah loe, palungha oh.
34 Happy is the man that hearkeneth unto me, watching day by day at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
Ka lok tahngaih moe, ni thokkruek kai ih khongkhanawk to toep pacoengah, kai ih thok tungnawk taengah zing kami loe, tahamhoih.
35 For he who findeth me findeth life, and he obtaineth favor from the Lord.
Kai hnu kami loe hinghaih to hnuk; Angraeng anghoehaih to a hnuk.
36 But he that sinneth against me doth violence to his own soul: all those that hate me love death.
Toe ka hmaa ah zaehaih sah kami loe, a hinghaih paro kami ah oh; kai hnuma kaminawk boih loe, duekhaih palung kami ah ni oh o.
