Proverbs 7
1 My son, observe my sayings, and my commandments must thou treasure up with thee.
मेरे पुत्र, मेरे वचनों का पालन करते रहो और मेरे आदेशों को अपने हृदय में संचित करके रखना.
2 Observe my commandments, and live: and my teaching as the apple of thy eyes.
मेरे आदेशों का पालन करना और जीवित रहना; मेरी शिक्षाएं वैसे ही सुरक्षित रखना, जैसे अपने नेत्र की पुतली को रखते हो.
3 Bind them around thy fingers, write them upon the table of thy heart.
इन्हें अपनी उंगलियों में पहन लेना; इन्हें अपने हृदय-पटल पर उकेर लेना.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
ज्ञान से कहो, “तुम मेरी बहन हो,” समझ को “अपना रिश्तेदार घोषित करो,”
5 That they may keep thee from an adulterous woman, from an alien that useth flattering speeches.
कि ये तुम्हें व्यभिचारिणी स्त्री से सुरक्षित रखें, तुम्हें पर-स्त्री की लुभानेवाली बातों में फंसने से रोक सकें.
6 For through the window of my house, through my lattice did I [once] look out,
मैं खिड़की के पास खड़ा हुआ जाली में से बाहर देख रहा था.
7 And I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a lad void of sense;
मुझे एक साधारण, सीधा-सादा युवक दिखाई दिया, इस युवक में समझदारी तो थी ही नहीं,
8 He was passing through the market-place near her corner; and he stepped along on the way to her house,
यह युवक उस मार्ग पर जा रहा था, जो इस स्त्री के घर की ओर जाता था, सड़क की छोर पर उसका घर था.
9 In the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the depth of the night and when it was dark:
यह संध्याकाल गोधूली की बेला थी, रात्रि के अंधकार का समय हो रहा था.
10 And, behold, a woman came to meet him with the attire of a harlot, and obdurate of heart.
तब मैंने देखा कि एक स्त्री उससे मिलने निकल आई, उसकी वेशभूषा वेश्या के समान थी उसके हृदय से धूर्तता छलक रही थी.
11 (She is noisy and ungovernable; in her house her feet never rest;
(वह अत्यंत भड़कीली और चंचल थी, वह अपने घर पर तो ठहरती ही न थी;
12 At one time she is in the street, at another in the open places, and near every corner doth she lurk, )
वह कभी सड़क पर दिखती थी तो कभी नगर चौक में, वह प्रतीक्षा करती हुई किसी भी चौराहे पर देखी जा सकती थी.)
13 And she caught hold of him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face she said to him,
आगे बढ़ के उसने उस युवक को बाहों में लेकर चूम लिया और बड़ी ही निर्लज्जता से उससे कहने लगी:
14 “I had bound myself to bring peace-offerings; this day have I paid my vows:
“मुझे बलि अर्पित करनी ही थी और आज ही मैंने अपने मन्नत को पूर्ण कर लिया हैं.
15 Therefore am I come forth to meet thee, to seek thy presence diligently, and I have found thee.
इसलिये मैं तुमसे मिलने आ सकी हूं; मैं कितनी उत्कण्ठापूर्वक तुम्हें खोज रही थी, देखो, अब तुम मुझे मिल गए हो!
16 With tapestry coverings have I decked my bed, with embroidered coverlids of the fine linen of Egypt.
मैंने उत्कृष्ट चादरों से बिछौना सजाया है इन पर मिस्र देश की रंगीन कलाकृतियां हैं.
17 I have sprinkled my couch with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
मैंने बिछौने को गन्धरस, अगरू और दालचीनी से सुगंधित किया है.
18 Come, let us indulge in love until the morning: let us delight ourselves with dalliances.
अब देर किस लिए, प्रेम क्रीड़ा के लिए हमारे पास प्रातःकाल तक समय है; हम परस्पर प्रेम के द्वारा एक दूसरे का समाधान करेंगे!
19 For the man is not in his house, he is gone on a journey a great way off:
मेरे पति प्रवास पर हैं; बड़े लंबे समय का है उनका प्रवास.
20 The bag of money hath he taken with him, by the day of the new-moon festival only will he come home.”
वह अपने साथ बड़ी धनराशि लेकर गए हैं वह तो पूर्णिमा पर ही लौटेंगे.”
21 She seduced him by the abundance of her reasoning: by the flattery of her lips she misguided him.
इसी प्रकार के मधुर शब्द के द्वारा उसने अंततः उस युवक को फुसला ही लिया; उसके मधुर शब्द के समक्ष वह हार गया.
22 He followed after her suddenly, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, and as in fetters to his correction, the fool:
तत्क्षण वह उसके साथ चला गया. यह वैसा ही दृश्य था जैसे वध के लिए ले जाया जा रहा बैल, अथवा जैसे कोई मूर्ख फंदे में फंस गया हो.
23 Till an arrow cleaveth through his liver; as a bird hasteneth into the snare, and knoweth not that it is done to take his life.
तब बाण उसके कलेजे को बेधता हुआ निकल जाता है, जैसे पक्षी जाल में जा उलझा हो. उसे तो यह बोध ही नहीं होता, कि यह उसके प्राण लेने के लिए किया जा रहा है.
24 And now, O children, hearken unto me, and listen to the sayings of my mouth.
और अब, मेरे पुत्रो, ध्यान से सुनो; और मेरे मुख से निकले शब्दों के प्रति सावधान रहो.
25 Let not thy heart turn aside to her ways, do not go astray on her paths.
तुम्हारा हृदय कभी भी ऐसी स्त्री के मार्ग की ओर न फिरे, उसके आचार-व्यवहार देखकर बहक न जाना,
26 For many deadly wounded hath she caused to fall: yea, very numerous are all those slain by her.
उसने ऐसे अनेक-अनेक व्यक्तियों को फंसाया है; और बड़ी संख्या है उसके द्वारा संहार किए गए शक्तिशाली व्यक्तियों की.
