Proverbs 3
1 My son, forget not my teaching, and let thy heart keep my commandments;
हे मेरो छोरो, मेरा आज्ञाहरू नभुल्, र मेरा शिक्षाहरूलाई तेरो हृदयमा राख् ।
2 For length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they increase unto thee.
किनकि तिनले तेरो आयु लामो बनाउने छन्, र शान्ति ल्याउने छन् ।
3 Let kindness and truth not forsake thee; bind them about thy throat; write them upon the table of thy heart:
करारको विश्वसनीयता र भरोसाले तँलाई कहिल्यै नछोडून् । तिनलाई तेरो गलाको वरिपरि सँगसँगै बाँध् । तिनलाई तेरो हृदयको पाटीमा लेख् ।
4 So shalt thou find grace and good favor in the eyes of God and man.
तब तैँले परमेश्वर र मानिसको दृष्टिमा निगाह पाउने छस्, र ख्याति कमाउने छस् ।
5 Trust in the Lord with all thy heart: and upon thy own understanding do not rely.
तेरो सारा हृदयले परमप्रभुमाथि भरोसा राख्, र तेरो आफ्नै समझशक्तिमा भर नपर् ।
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will make level thy paths.
तेरा सबै मार्गमा उहाँलाई उहाँलाई सम्झी र उहाँले तेरा मार्गहरू सोझा तुल्याउने हुनेछ ।
7 Be not wise in thy own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
तेरो आफ्नै दृष्टिमा बुद्धिमान् नबन् । परमप्रभुको भय मान्, र खराबीबाट फर्की ।
8 It will be healing to thy body, and marrow to thy bones.
यो तेरो शरीरको लागि चङ्गाइ हुने छ, र तेरो देहको लागि ताजापन हुने छ ।
9 Honor the Lord with thy wealth, and with the first-fruits of all thy products:
तेरो धन-सम्पत्ति र तेरा सबै उब्जनीको अगौटे-फलले परमप्रभुको आदर गर् ।
10 So shall thy storehouses be filled with plenty, and with new wine shall thy presses overflow.
तब तेरा भन्डार कोठाहरू भरिने छन्, र तेरा भाँडाकुँडाहरू नयाँ दाखमद्यले चुलिएर पोखिने छन् ।
11 The correction of the Lord, my son, do not despise; and feel no loathing for his admonition;
हे मेरो छोरो, परमप्रभुको निर्देशनलाई तुच्छ नठान्, र उहाँको हप्कीलाई घृणा नगर् ।
12 Because whomever the Lord loveth he admonisheth; and as a father who delighteth in [his] son.
किनकि परमप्रभुले प्रेम गर्नुहुनेहरूलाई नै उहाँले अनुशासनमा राख्नुहुन्छ, जस्तो बुबालाई खुसी पार्ने छोरोलाई बुबाले व्यवहार गर्छ ।
13 Happy the man that hath found wisdom, and the man that acquireth understanding.
बुद्धि प्राप्त गर्ने धन्यको हो । त्यसले समझशक्ति पनि पाउँछ ।
14 For the obtaining of her is better than the obtaining of silver, and better than fine gold is her product.
तैँले बुद्धिबाट प्राप्त गर्ने कुरो चाँदीबाट प्राप्त गर्ने कुरोभन्दा उत्तम हुन्छ, र यसको लाभ सुनभन्दा उत्तम हुन्छ ।
15 She is more precious than pearls; and all the things thou valuest are not equal unto her.
बुद्धि गरगहनाभन्दा बहुमूल्य हुन्छ, र तैँले इच्छा गरेको कुनै पनि थोक त्यससित तुलना गर्न सकिँदैन ।
16 Length of days is in her right hand: in her left are riches and honor.
बुद्धिको दाहिने हातमा दीर्घायु हुन्छ भने त्यसको देब्रे हातमा धन-सम्पत्ति र मान हुन्छन् ।
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
त्यसको मार्ग दयाको मार्ग हो, र त्यसका सबै बाटा शान्तिका छन् ।
18 A tree of life is she to those that lay hold on her: and every one that firmly graspeth her will be made happy.
बुद्धिलाई पक्रनेहरूका लागि त्यो जीवनको रुख हो, र त्यसलाई समात्नेहरू खुसी हुन्छन् ।
19 The Lord hath through wisdom founded the earth: he hath established the heavens through understanding.
बुद्धिले नै परमप्रभुले पृथ्वी बनाउनुभयो र समझशक्तिले उहाँले आकाशहरू स्थापना गर्नुभयो ।
20 By his knowledge were the depths split open, and the skies drop down the dew.
उहाँको ज्ञानद्वारा गहिरा-गहिरा सागरहरू फुटेर निस्के, र बादलले तलतिर शीत झारे ।
21 My son, let them not be removed from thy eyes; keep [before thee] sound wisdom and discretion:
हे मेरो छोरो, पक्का बुद्धि र समझशक्तिलाई जोगाइराख्, अनि तिनलाई तेरो नजरबाट जान नदे ।
22 And they will be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy throat.
ती तेरो प्राणको निम्ति जीवन हुने छन्, र तेरो गलाको वरिपरि लगाउने स्नेहको गहना हुने छन् ।
23 Then wilt thou walk in safety on thy way, and thy foot will not strike [against aught]:
तब तँ आफ्नो मार्गमा सुरक्षितसाथ हिँड्ने छस्, र तेरो खुट्टा ठोक्किने छैन ।
24 When thou layest thyself down, thou shalt feel no dread; and as thou liest down, thy sleep shall be pleasant.
तँ पल्टँदा डराउने छैनस् । तँ पल्टँदा तँलाई मिठो निद्रा लाग्ने छ ।
25 Thou needest not to be afraid of sudden dread, neither of the [unlooked-for] tempest over the wicked, when it cometh.
दुष्टहरूबाट अकस्मात् आउने त्रास वा विपत्तिदेखि नडरा ।
26 For the Lord will be thy confidence, and he will guard thy foot from being caught.
किनकि परमप्रभु तेरो पक्षमा हुनुहुने छ, र उहाँले तेरो पाउलाई पासोमा पर्नदेखि जोगाउनुहुने छ ।
27 Withhold not a benefit from him who is deserving it, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
तँ शक्तिमा रहुञ्जेलसम्म भलाइ गरिन योग्य भएकाहरूबाट त्यसलाई नरोक् ।
28 Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and return, and tomorrow will I give: when thou hast it by thee.
तँसित रुपियाँ-पैसा हुँदा आफ्नो छिमेकीलाई यसो नभन्, “जाऊ, र फेरि आऊ अनि म भोली दिने छु ।”
29 Contrive not against thy neighbor any evil, when he dwelleth in safety with thee.
तेरो नजिकै बस्ने र तँमाथि भर पर्ने आफ्नो छिमेकीको हानि गर्ने योजना नबना ।
30 Quarrel not with any man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
तँलाई कसैले हानि नपुर्याउँदा विनाकारण त्यससित तर्क-वितर्क नगर् ।
31 Envy not the man of violence, and choose none of his ways.
हिंसात्मक व्यक्तिको ईर्ष्या नगर् वा त्यसको कुनै पनि मार्गलाई नछान् ।
32 For the froward is an abomination to the Lord; but with the upright is his good-will.
किनकि कुटिल व्यक्ति परमप्रभुको लागि घृणित हुन्छ, तर सोझो व्यक्तिलाई उहाँले आफ्नो विश्वासमा ल्याउनुहुन्छ ।
33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked; but the habitation of the righteous will he bless.
दुष्टहरूको घरमा परमप्रभुको सराप पर्छ, तर धर्मीहरूको घरमा उहाँको आशिष् पर्छ ।
34 If [it concern] the scornful he will himself render them a scorn; but unto the lowly doth he give grace.
उहाँले गिल्ला गर्नेहरूलाई गिल्ला गर्नुहुन्छ, तर विनम्र मानिसहरूलाई उहाँले आफ्नो स्नेह देखाउनुहुन्छ ।
35 The wise shall inherit glory; but fools shall obtain disgrace as their portion.
बुद्धिमान् मानिसहरू आदरको हकदार हुने छन्, तर मूर्खहरू तिनीहरूकै लाजमा पर्ने छन् ।
