Proverbs 24
1 Be thou not envious of bad men, and do not long to be with them.
௧பொல்லாத மனிதர்கள்மேல் பொறாமைகொள்ளாதே; அவர்களோடு இருக்கவும் விரும்பாதே.
2 For their heart meditateth destruction, and of mischief do their lips speak.
௨அவர்களுடைய இருதயம் கொடுமையை யோசிக்கும், அவர்களுடைய உதடுகள் தீவினையைப் பேசும்.
3 Through wisdom is a house built; and through understanding is it firmly established;
௩வீடு ஞானத்தினாலே கட்டப்பட்டு, விவேகத்தினாலே நிலைநிறுத்தப்படும்.
4 And through knowledge are chambers filled with all manner of precious and pleasant wealth.
௪அறிவினாலே அறைகளில் அருமையும் இனிமையுமான எல்லாவிதப் பொருள்களும் நிறைந்திருக்கும்.
5 A wise man is [always] in power; and a man of knowledge fortifieth [his] strength.
௫ஞானமுள்ளவன் பெலமுள்ளவன்; அறிவுள்ளவன் தன்னுடைய வல்லமையை அதிகரிக்கச்செய்கிறான்.
6 For by wise counsel canst thou conduct thy war; and there is help in a multitude of counsellors.
௬நல்யோசனைசெய்து யுத்தம்செய்; ஆலோசனைக்காரர்கள் அநேகரால் வெற்றி கிடைக்கும்.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: in the gate can he not open his mouth.
௭மூடனுக்கு ஞானம் எட்டாத உயரமாக இருக்கும்; அவன் நீதிமன்றத்தில் தன்னுடைய வாயைத் திறக்கமாட்டான்.
8 Him that deviseth to do evil, men call a master of wicked devices.
௮தீவினைசெய்ய நினைக்கிறவன் மதிகெட்டவன் என்னப்படுவான்.
9 The counsel of folly is sin; and an abomination to men is the scorner.
௯தீயநோக்கம் பாவமாகும்; பரியாசக்காரன் மனிதர்களுக்கு அருவருப்பானவன்.
10 If thou despond on the day of distress, thy strength is small.
௧0ஆபத்துக்காலத்தில் நீ சோர்ந்துபோனால், உன்னுடைய பெலன் குறுகினது.
11 Deliver those that are taken unto death, and those that are moved away to the slaughter hold back.
௧௧மரணத்திற்கு ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்டவர்களையும், கொலைசெய்வதற்கு கொண்டுபோகிறவர்களையும் விடுவிக்க முடிந்தால் விடுவி.
12 If thou shouldst say, Behold, we know not this man: lo, he that weigheth hearts will truly regard it, and he that keepeth thy soul will surely know it; and he will give a recompense to man according to his doing.
௧௨அதை நாங்கள் அறியோம் என்று சொன்னால், இருதயங்களைச் சோதிக்கிறவர் அறியமாட்டாரோ? உன்னுடைய ஆத்துமாவைக் காக்கிறவர் கவனிக்கமாட்டாரோ? அவர் மனிதர்களுக்கு அவனவன் செயல்களுக்கு தக்கதாகப் பலனளிக்கமாட்டாரோ?
13 Eat honey, my son, because it is good; and the fine honey, which is sweet to thy palate:
௧௩என் மகனே, தேனைச் சாப்பிடு, அது நல்லது; கூட்டிலிருந்து ஒழுகும் தேன் உன் வாய்க்கு இன்பமாக இருக்கும்.
14 So obtain the knowledge of wisdom for thy soul: when thou hast found her, then shall there be a [happy] future, and thy hope shall not be cut off.
௧௪அப்படியே ஞானத்தை அறிந்துகொள்வது உன்னுடைய ஆத்துமாவுக்கு இன்பமாக இருக்கும்; அதைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டால், அது முடிவில் உதவும், உன்னுடைய நம்பிக்கை வீண்போகாது.
15 Lie not in wait, O wicked man! against the dwelling of the righteous; waste not his resting-place;
௧௫துன்மார்க்கனே, நீ நீதிமானுடைய வீட்டிற்கு விரோதமாக மறைந்திருக்காதே; அவன் தங்கும் இடத்தைப் பாழாக்கிப்போடாதே.
16 For though the righteous were to fall seven times, he will rise up again; but the wicked shall stumble into misfortune.
௧௬நீதிமான் ஏழுமுறை விழுந்தாலும் திரும்பவும் எழுந்திருப்பான்; துன்மார்க்கர்களோ தீங்கிலே இடறுண்டு கிடப்பார்கள்.
17 At the fall of thy enemy do not rejoice; and at his stumbling let not thy heart be glad:
௧௭உன் எதிரி விழும்போது சந்தோஷப்படாதே; அவன் இடறும்போது உன்னுடைய இருதயம் சந்தோஷப்படாமல் இருப்பதாக.
18 Lest the Lord see it and it be displeasing in his eyes, and he turn away from him his wrath.
௧௮யெகோவா அதைக் காண்பார், அது அவருடைய பார்வைக்கு தீங்காக இருக்கும்; அப்பொழுது அவனிடத்திலிருந்து அவர் தமது கோபத்தை நீக்கிவிடுவார்.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, neither be thou envious of the wicked;
௧௯பொல்லாதவர்களைக்குறித்து எரிச்சலாகாதே; துன்மார்க்கர்மேல் பொறாமை கொள்ளாதே.
20 For there will be no [happy] future for the bad man: the lamp of the wicked will be quenched.
௨0துன்மார்க்கனுக்கு நல்ல முடிவு இல்லை; துன்மார்க்கர்களுடைய விளக்கு அணைந்துபோகும்.
21 My son, fear the Lord and the king: with those that are desirous to change do not mingle thyself;
௨௧என் மகனே, நீ யெகோவாவுக்கும் ராஜாவுக்கும் பயந்து நட, கலகக்காரர்களோடு சேராதே.
22 For suddenly will their calamity arise; and who knoweth the ruin of both of them!
௨௨திடீரென அவர்களுடைய ஆபத்து எழும்பும்; அவர்கள் இருவரின் அழிவையும் அறிந்தவன் யார்?
23 These things also are for the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.
௨௩பின்னும் ஞானமுள்ளவர்களின் புத்திமதிகள் என்னவெனில்: நியாயத்திலே பாரபட்சம் நல்லதல்ல.
24 Him that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous, will the people denounce, him will nations hold accursed;
௨௪துன்மார்க்கனைப் பார்த்து: நீதிமானாக இருக்கிறாய் என்று சொல்லுகிறவனை மக்கள் சபிப்பார்கள், குடிமக்கள் அவனை வெறுப்பார்கள்.
25 But to those that punish delight shall be given, and upon them shall come the blessing of the good.
௨௫அவனைக் கடிந்துகொள்ளுகிறவர்கள்மேல் பிரியம் உண்டாகும், அவர்களுக்கு உத்தம ஆசீர்வாதம் கிடைக்கும்.
26 Men will kiss the lips of him that giveth a proper answer.
௨௬செம்மையான மறுமொழி சொல்லுகிறவன் உதடுகளை முத்தமிடுகிறவனுக்குச் சமம்.
27 Prepare without thy work, and make it fit in the field for thyself: and afterward build thy house.
௨௭வெளியில் உன்னுடைய வேலையைத் தயாராக்கி, வயலில் அதை ஒழுங்காக்கி, பின்பு உன்னுடைய வீட்டைக் கட்டு.
28 Be not without cause a witness against thy neighbor; for wouldst thou beguile with thy lips?
௨௮நியாயமில்லாமல் பிறனுக்கு விரோதமாகச் சாட்சியாக ஏற்படாதே; உன்னுடைய உதடுகளினால் வஞ்சகம் பேசாதே.
29 Say not, As he hath done to me so will I do to him: I will recompense every man according to his doing.
௨௯அவன் எனக்குச் செய்தபடி நானும் அவனுக்குச் செய்வேன், அவன் செய்த செயல்களுக்குத் தகுந்தபடி நானும் அவனுக்குச் சரிக்கட்டுவேன் என்று நீ சொல்லாதே.
30 By the field of a slothful man I once passed along, and by the vineyard of a man void of sense:
௩0சோம்பேறியின் வயலையும், மதியீனனுடைய திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தையும் கடந்துபோனேன்.
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, nettles had covered its surface, and its stone-wall was broken down.
௩௧இதோ, அதெல்லாம் முள்ளுக்காடாக இருந்தது; நிலத்தின் முகத்தை முட்கள் மூடினது, அதின் கற்சுவர் இடிந்துகிடந்தது.
32 And when I had indeed beheld [this] I took it to my heart: I saw it, and received a warning.
௩௨அதைக் கண்டு சிந்தனை செய்தேன்; அதை நோக்கிப் புத்தியடைந்தேன்.
33 “A little [more] sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands in lying down;”
௩௩இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் உறங்கட்டும், இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் கைமுடக்கிக்கொண்டு தூங்கட்டும் என்பாயோ?
34 But then will thy poverty come like a rover; and thy wants as a man armed with a shield.
௩௪உன் தரித்திரம் வழிப்போக்கனைப்போலவும் உன் வறுமை ஆயுதம் அணிந்தவனைப்போலவும் வரும்.
