Proverbs 24
1 Be thou not envious of bad men, and do not long to be with them.
No tengan envidia de los hombres malvados, ni ningún deseo de estar con ellos:
2 For their heart meditateth destruction, and of mischief do their lips speak.
porque el propósito de sus corazones es la destrucción, y sus labios están hablando de causar problemas.
3 Through wisdom is a house built; and through understanding is it firmly established;
La construcción de una casa es por sabiduría, y por la razón se fortalece:
4 And through knowledge are chambers filled with all manner of precious and pleasant wealth.
Y por el conocimiento, sus habitaciones están llenas de todas las cosas queridas y agradables.
5 A wise man is [always] in power; and a man of knowledge fortifieth [his] strength.
El sabio es fuerte; y un hombre de conocimiento aumenta la fortaleza.
6 For by wise counsel canst thou conduct thy war; and there is help in a multitude of counsellors.
Porque guiándote sabiamente, vencerás en la guerra; y en varios guías sabios está la victoria.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: in the gate can he not open his mouth.
La sabiduría está fuera del poder del insensato: mantiene su boca cerrada en el lugar público.
8 Him that deviseth to do evil, men call a master of wicked devices.
Aquel cuyo propósito es malo será nombrado hombre de malos designios.
9 The counsel of folly is sin; and an abomination to men is the scorner.
El propósito del necio es el pecado; y el que odia a la autoridad es repugnante para los demás.
10 If thou despond on the day of distress, thy strength is small.
Si cedes en el día de la angustia, tu fuerza es pequeña.
11 Deliver those that are taken unto death, and those that are moved away to the slaughter hold back.
Sé el salvador de los que son entregados a la muerte, y no retires la ayuda de aquellos que están cayendo en la destrucción.
12 If thou shouldst say, Behold, we know not this man: lo, he that weigheth hearts will truly regard it, and he that keepeth thy soul will surely know it; and he will give a recompense to man according to his doing.
Si dices: Mira, no teníamos conocimiento de esto: ¿no lo piensa el probador de corazones? y el que guarda tu alma, ¿no lo sabe? ¿Y no dará a cada hombre la recompensa de su trabajo?
13 Eat honey, my son, because it is good; and the fine honey, which is sweet to thy palate:
Hijo mío, toma miel, porque es bueno; y la miel que fluye, que es dulce a tu gusto:
14 So obtain the knowledge of wisdom for thy soul: when thou hast found her, then shall there be a [happy] future, and thy hope shall not be cut off.
Así que deja que tu deseo sea sabiduría: si la tienes, habrá un futuro, y tu esperanza no será cortada.
15 Lie not in wait, O wicked man! against the dwelling of the righteous; waste not his resting-place;
No hagas planes malvados, oh malhechor, contra los campos del hombre recto, o envíes destrucción sobre su lugar de reposo:
16 For though the righteous were to fall seven times, he will rise up again; but the wicked shall stumble into misfortune.
Porque un hombre recto, después de haber caído siete veces, se levantará otra vez; pero los malos caerán en él mal.
17 At the fall of thy enemy do not rejoice; and at his stumbling let not thy heart be glad:
No te alegres por la caída de tu adversario, y no se alegre tu corazón por su caída:
18 Lest the Lord see it and it be displeasing in his eyes, and he turn away from him his wrath.
Por temor de que el Señor lo vea, y pueda ser malo a sus ojos, y su ira se aleje de él.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, neither be thou envious of the wicked;
No te preocupes por los malvados, ni tengas envidia de los pecadores:
20 For there will be no [happy] future for the bad man: the lamp of the wicked will be quenched.
Porque no habrá futuro para el malvado; la luz de los pecadores será apagada.
21 My son, fear the Lord and the king: with those that are desirous to change do not mingle thyself;
Hijo mío, teme al Señor y al rey; no tengas nada que ver con los inestables:
22 For suddenly will their calamity arise; and who knoweth the ruin of both of them!
porque su caída vendrá repentinamente; y ¿quién tiene conocimiento de la ruina que viene de ambos?
23 These things also are for the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.
Estos son más dichos de los sabios: Tener preferencia por la posición de una persona cuando se juzga no es bueno.
24 Him that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous, will the people denounce, him will nations hold accursed;
El que dice al malvado, eres recto, será maldecido por los pueblos y aborrecido por las naciones.
25 But to those that punish delight shall be given, and upon them shall come the blessing of the good.
Pero aquellos que le castigan les irá bien, y una bendición de bien vendrá sobre ellos.
26 Men will kiss the lips of him that giveth a proper answer.
Él es como si diera un beso con sus labios cuando da una respuesta correcta.
27 Prepare without thy work, and make it fit in the field for thyself: and afterward build thy house.
Pon en orden tu trabajo afuera, y prepáralo en el campo; y después de eso, ve a la construcción de tu casa.
28 Be not without cause a witness against thy neighbor; for wouldst thou beguile with thy lips?
No seas un testigo falso contra tu prójimo, o deja que tus labios digan falso testimonio.
29 Say not, As he hath done to me so will I do to him: I will recompense every man according to his doing.
No digas: haré con él lo que me ha hecho; Le daré al hombre la recompensa de su trabajo.
30 By the field of a slothful man I once passed along, and by the vineyard of a man void of sense:
Fui por el campo del que odia el trabajo y por la viña del hombre sin sentido;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, nettles had covered its surface, and its stone-wall was broken down.
Y todo estaba lleno de espinas, y cubierto de plantas deshechas, y su muro de piedra se quebró.
32 And when I had indeed beheld [this] I took it to my heart: I saw it, and received a warning.
Luego mirándolo, pensé: lo vi, y obtuve enseñanza de él.
33 “A little [more] sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands in lying down;”
Un poco de sueño, un poco de descanso, un poco de doblar las manos en el sueño:
34 But then will thy poverty come like a rover; and thy wants as a man armed with a shield.
Entonces la pérdida caerá sobre ti como un forajido, y tu necesidad como un hombre armado.
